Has anyone ever hung out here during your cruise? Did you use the pool?

We were going to last week but got diverted to Ochos Rios and hit Jimmy Buffets there for lunch. They had a pool and beach so it was pretty good for just hanging out for a few hours. I would assume the one in Falmouth is the same just without the beach.

i was thinking about doing this on our upcoming cruise. I just wondered how busy it gets. would love to have use of a bigger pool for a bit.

I just read on their website that they were supposed to add a big pool so not sure it is there yet. There are no photos at their site of a pool.

We hung out at the pool and restaurant at the one in Grand Cayman.

Edited: I take that back...looks like some photos of a pool there on Trip Advisor.

We are on the Western Fantasy next month. Are the Margaritaville's ok to take kids? Into the pools also? I'm familiar with the ones in Orlando and Myrtle Beach and I know they are family friendly. Would love to take the kids into one of them down in the Western Ports but want to make sure they are family friendly. Thanks!

We had young kids with us at the Grand Cayman one so I would say yes.

We hung out there in December. It is expensive and you have to eat at their restaurant or maybe just buy drinks to get to use the pool. It wasn't very crowded.

We've been to the Margaritaville in Falmouth a couple of times, both of which were somewhere between 18 months to 2 years ago. We took our then nearly 3-year-old son into the pool both times without a problem. The first visit my wife and I only ordered a frozen margarita from the in pool, swim up bar pictured above. We probably stayed about an hour total. Long enough for our son to have fun swimming because, if I recall correctly, he was still in swim diapers at the time and was unable to use the pools onboard the ship(s). The second time we not only ordered drinks, but also stayed for lunch. We were obviously there a while ago, so things could obviously have changed by now. But, I remember the food quality not being very good at all. Which is sad because we've been to 4 other Margaritavilles over the years and have always enjoyed the food. Not this one. Hopefully it has gotten better, because I do like their "Cheeseburger in Paradise."

I'm a serious parrothead (witness my username, tag line and signature) but I've not been impressed with the several Margaritavilles I've been to. The food is mediocre and the drinks are watery. I still go (I do like the Volcano Nachos) but it's not a must-do destination for me anymore. The pool would be pretty cool. Kind of like Dante's in Key West or a nicer version, judging by the pictures, of Senor Frog's in Charlotte Amalie.

Used to go to the Margaritaville in New Orleans regularly back when it was only #2 of 2. ;) When our oldest was a baby the manager there (Winter) would come sit with us and play with our sweet little redheaded babe. The food was so good because it wasn't just the Margaritaville standards. There were dishes all over the menu with a local flair. Red beans & rice w/sausage & cornbread was my hubby's favorite. I think I'm remembering a pasta-laya, too. Around the time they started building more Margaritavilles the menu started to erode. It started with no more cornbread w/the red beans. Little things like that. When we moved away in late 2005 the menu was very blah. Almost generic. Of course right after Katrina they worked on a REALLY limited menu...it was a sheet of paper with like 4 or 5 choices. LOL! But, by golly, we were there and thrilled. Nowadays Margaritavilles are about atmosphere for us. Definitely not because we think we'll have fab food w/a local flare. :D

Nailed it. That's the only reason to go anymore. Some have great atmosphere. Some don't. I like the Key West vibe. The Charleston is just a store. The Pigeon Forge one? Not so great. It feels to clean and polished. Too corporate.

It was cool when they were the types of places Jimmy would write about. That's where I'm at. Given the choice, when I'm traveling I'm looking for the little character spots. ;)

This. This is why I seek out the places in Key West, etc. that many people don't know about. The place that either tourists in the know or locals go to. I want the real thing. I've been asked not to talk about the places I meet and befriend locals. I'm cool with that. I would much rather people find these places on their own. It's local character that makes travel worthwhile.
