Hi! Anybody else heading out this week to see Jimmy Buffett? We are seeing him in Pittsburgh on Thursday! Yay! :bounce: First time ever and something to cross off our life list!

So... the group we are going with wants to get down there by NOON (the concert is at 8pm) and tailgate. They say that is half the experience. So my question to you is this: what foods should I bring/serve? We'll only have 3 in our little group, me, dh and his friend. We have a converter for the truck so we can bring the blender! His friend wants to bring his little grill so they can have shrimp and bacon kabobs. What other festive things can you think of?

Thanks for any ideas! :Pinkbounc

A big pitcher of Sex on the beach

Schnapps, peach 1 1/2 oz.
Vodka 1 1/2 oz.
Cranberry Juice 2 oz.
Orange Juice 2 oz.
Pineapple Juice 2 oz.

Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a highball glass filled with ice.

We always bring some steak tips, and maybe a keylime pie
Along with the booze dont forget water bring a couple of gallons. And something to provide you with some shade it can get real hot out in those parking lots.

Tailgating at buffett is a blast, the crowds we have here are always fun and people are willing to share what they have.

Have a good time.

Saw Buffet when he was in Philly and I sampled some of the Margaritaville brand shrimp, it was to die for! Go get some!

make sure to bring some snack foods too to munch on after the concert, when you're stuck in the parking lot for hours!!!

Buffet does have the best tailgaters!

Going for my 8th year in a row tomorrow night in Cincinnati!!!!! Can't wait! We're getting down there early and tailgating as well. Since it's a bunch of college guys we're just doing beer, burgers, dogs, and more beer. One thing I know I always take is bottles of water for after the concert. Being stuck in the parking lot, everyone is always dehydrated and the water is a hit.

And afterwards we always hit up Steak & Shake. :teeth:

Too bad you can't bring a port-a-potty! At Jones Beach the line for the women's bathroom is over 1/2 hour long in the parking lot!
We always go with a really large group that gets larger every year. One of DH's friends went out and bought a RV just for tailgating this year! (he's a Jets season tix holder too) Hopefully the line for that potty won't be too long!

I agree about the jello shots, they add a little fun! Definately bring a camera. Also, bring some decorations. We usually have some blow up palm trees, some hanging parrots and other tropical decorations. One of us always brings leis for everyone.

We're going this weekend and can't wait. Everyone has been planning this since January!

Have a great time

Thanks everyone! Those sound like great ideas, especially the Jello Shots! Oh, and thanks for the tip about the water afterwards for the wait out of the parking lot. Never thought about that! We have to get up and leave the hotel by 6am to make it back to WNY by 10am so we can pick up our kids, dog and boat and drive to the Thousand Islands for 3 nights! :bounce: Yep, that's right, Pittsburgh to WNY to Thousand Islands all after a Jimmy Buffet Concert! :o

Here's hoping for some fun and :sunny: !

Don't forget to dress the part...grass skirts, coconut bras, parrots on a hat...to be a parrot -head of course! My hat has FINS adorning it, as that's one of my fav JB songs. Also...swallow a few ibuprofen about an hour before you start "seriously" tailgating...and I'd have some of that water in between Boat drinks...best way to avoid a hangover.
ENJOY!

Sounds like a designated driver would be something nice to have along:D

Plenty of ice, water, sodas and munchies for after the concert.
Shade! We use one of those 10 x 10 gazebos- it's nice not only for us, but for the food too.
We do basic food- burgers, dogs, chips etc. Nothing too fancy or anything that requires refrigeration or anything more than a cooler of ice. Remember, if you unpack it, you have to REPACK it before heading into the show.
Folding chairs or beach chairs.
Card table or something like that to put the food etc on.
A camera, lots of film or an extra media card.
If you make jello shots like jigglers it is easier to transport and store them.
Don't forget the grill! Potholders, grill tools, charcoal/propane- extra water to put out the charcoal as there won't be enough time to let the coals die out naturally. Lighter or matches.

Don't forget the tickets and have a good time!

Oh Micca, I AM the designated driver! :D I don't drink much at all so I probably won't drink at all that day. Must protect the two "boneheads", you know... my dh and his friend. Someone has to know the directions to the hotel!

This is a very timely thread! After reading and responding to this, I asked DH what we were supposed to bring this weekend, thinking he would say, chips, rolls something simple like that. He comes out with "A tray of Baked Ziti" My jaw dropped to the floor and said "Whaaaaat?" Well, the guy with the RV is in charge this year and he never does a tailgate with just hamburgers and hot dogs. I asked how we would keep it warm and DH responed "R" will have chaffing dishes! HUH???? What the heck kind of tailgating party is this??? What the heck happened to the guy that was in charge last year??? I just want my darn cheeseburger!!!

LOL, Stimpy! Who's bringing the cloth napkins?

The weather is looking fabulous for Thursday in Pittsburgh! :sunny: I still have no idea what the men want to eat/bring so I'm sticking with normal snacks and they can cook what they want!

This is going to be an experience!
