herc, there may not have been any wood left. You just don't know how fast the stuff flies out of Lowes and Home Depot. We didn't get to board up before Frances (not that DH would have had the time, either, he was too busy working).

Supplies might be a problem. When West Coast Florida thought we were going to take the hit we could not get plywood or gas for several days. Two guys at my work waited in a line for 5 hours to try and buy plywood.
Due to Florida being hit some many times in a short period of time we just don't have the supplies handy.
I feel for those people who are going to be hit with IVAN.

That is sooo funny. My husband and I always laugh and say the Sh** has hit the fan when we see Jim C. We feel like we know his daily routine because of where he is reporting from. We are Weather Channel junkies!! We watch for storms, hurricanes, snow, twisters and we could be hundreds of miles away. I guess it's reality tv without the big "break up."

Sabeking, we're big Weather Channel junkies too. We love Jim Cantore and Mike Sidel! (sp?) I think DH found his dream job a little too late in life! It definitely takes a special type of person to go out on location like that all the time!

This is my observation...He goes as close to danger as he can without being in really, really bad danger. Frances, for example...it made landfall around Stuart and he was in Melbourne. Close enough to see some darn good destruction, but not bad enough that his life was in danger. Same thing goes for where he is now.

Still I am a fan and couldn't believe he was in my community.

I wanted to be a metorologist up till the age of 17. Ended up being a Speech Therapist and a teacher. If I was not married and didn't have kids I would love to be in the thick of the weather up to my eyeballs! Actually, if we had no kids my husband would be there too!
