We will have to give up 50's Prime Time and Whispering Canyon....would you?
Just for the record, I'm not "dying" to go to either one of these. Been to 50's before, but would be a 1st for WC.

There are 4 kids in our party (16, 16, 12, 9)

I am reworking our park days and the 2 above don't fit well now.....
(We are on the dining plan - not sure if Jiko's 2 credits would be wasted)

Personally, I would not give up WCC to go to Jiko's. WCC is one of our favorite restaurants in WDW (besides Kona) and I love going there! :)

Go to allearsnet.com and click to find the menu. Only you can decide if your kids will eat the food at Jiko. I think there is stuff being served there that kids might not like.

I've never heard of Jikos, but I do know it takes a lot of time out of your day to go to WCC. We liked the food, but it was not worth the time spent going to and from.

We love Jiko's and so do our kids 12 and 9, and we are returning next week for our 3rd time in a year.

WCC we didn't like so much.

However they are two very different dining experiences, so I would do AJKMom suggests and check the menu's to see which you would like better. Plus the atmosphere is totally opposite with WCC being loud, waiter interaction (think 50's) and Jiko being a "fine dining" experience.

About the 2 credits needed....
DH and I love the Brown Durby which also takes 2 credits. When we went this past Feb, we shared a TS at two different resturants so we could "save up" for Brown Durby. We only had one place who said it was against the rules, but that was funny because we did it at the same resturant the day before with no trouble. They even split our dinners and placed them on seperate plates before bringing to the table.

So, that might be an option for you.

I love Jiko...it's my current favorite restaurant. And I've often seen kids here and they seem to be enjoying themselves. That said, JIko's is quiet, fine dining, excellent wine list, fun for adults. SO, why not do an adult evening out...LATE (they serve til 9:40) without the kids? You could make the earlier evening be all about the kids and then either set them down with a movie and cookies and milk and off to sleep in your room or DVC . or you could take them to the Movies and eat dinner while they are in the movie theatre.

Yes, it's worth 2 TS credits . Will kids think this is a 'fun' entertainment meal? No, not at all.

If you take the kids, you could probably use 6TS and have PLENTY of food for everyone. Maybe they would go 'cruising' outside or attend one of the scheduled (free) kid activities while mum and dad got to eat dessert and coffee by themselves.

How are your younger kids with "fine dining" type places? Jiko is small (for Disney), quiet, and leisurely. It's kid-friendly IF the kids in question don't need fast, noisy, lively environments!

Personally, I wouldn't give up two meals elsewhere to take my family to Jiko. It just seems less like a family place to me.

Don't think any are worth 2 credits, except for the dinner shows.

My DH and I really enjoy JIKO's. I think the two teenagers would like it, but I don't know about the two younger children. It's a nice restaurant, good food, but geared more toward adults in my opinion.

I haven't been to Jiko, but I'm taking DS9 this year. We're also going to Narcoosees and Rangetsu (offsite). I think a few quiet, more "grown up" evenings will be a nice break for both of us.

Yes, Yes, Yes. Jiko is our favorite place to dine at WDW. I would choose it over 50's Primetime and WCC any day. Your kids will love it also. If you have never been to the AKL get there early and look around. It is an amazing resort. :)

We had dinner at Jiko's last December and it was absolutely amazing. The menu at Allears.net will give you a good idea if the food would appeal to you. We had our daughters with us who were 4 and 8 at the time and they loved it as well. I would definitely recommend it over WCC and PrimeTime.

The kids in your party are definitely at the ages where they would enjoy Jiko. It's one of our favorite spots (my kids are 15, 13, and 10). It's worth 2 credits and/or spending out of pocket - probably the best overall dining expereince at Disney.

We loved Jikos when we ate there in Feb - WCC not so much, lots of flash not much substance.... if you want wonderful food go to Jikos, well worth it :thumbsup2

Hubby and I like quiet, relaxed meals. When the kids were young we did all the character meals as well as 50's and WCC. Personally, I prejer Jiko. If I felt like my kids would enjoy the antics at the other two I'd go with them without a second thought. They grow up so quickly! DH and I now have all the time in the world to go "fancy".

I had the best meal of my life at Jiko. I love it so much when I stay at AKL for 3 nights in December I am eating there twice!!!!:)
