Wow this place seems to be a favorite according to the posts in Signature dining thread. I'd like to hear more about it.

We'd like to dine here upcoming trip. What is it that everyone likes about this place? Food, atmosphere, staff, etc?

Debbie

I think it's a combination of all 3!! The restaurant changes "color" while you are eating....very gradual, its cool! The food is outstanding, we prefer this to Boma anyday. If you have never eaten here, try it! I'm sure you will enjoy. They have a wonderful wine selection as well. I can't wait for my upcoming trip to enjoy it once again.

:sunny:

By far our favorite nice sit down restaurant at WDW. Been there several times (and going back in 10 days) and it is always superb. As mentioned, it is a wonderful combination of all three things... Love Jiko.

great service
the room is beautiful - all those hanging swans flying are stunning
amazing so. african wines by the glass (and they let us sample first!)
filet mignon over mac and cheese -heavenly!!

my friend loves the pistachio creme brulee but i'm more of a chocolate fan. :sunny:

Yes, yes, and yes! This is our favorite restaurant, and after we went here with my dad last weekend, he was raving about it as well. He's coming back with his GF in Feb and is insisting that we go back, even.

The food is always excellent, service is great as well (time when you need it, but quick on the refills/plates taken away/etc), and the atmosphere is beautiful. We nearly almost always order a bunch of appetizers then dessert, which costs the same as entrees, but it gives a wide variety. This past time we shared the Taste of Africa, an appetizer sampler, the ahi tuna appetizer, and the cheese plate. Then a dessert sampler (which they've downsized lately). You had to roll us out :teeth:

(Victoria Falls is still taking DDE, whew)

Oh Jiko restraurant is very good. The atmosphere, service and food are great.
I ordered the filet with mac and cheese . It was real good . Olive flatbread for appetitzer and the postachio creme broulee for dessert.

DH and I are going in April and can't wait thanks to the menu and great reviews here. :cool1:

We would rank the food at Jiko as tops on the property. The food is surprisingly not that exotic. We would eat there on every vacation if AKL were not so difficult to get to for Disney transporation.

Jiko is our favorite place to dine at WDW. We always start with one of there flatbreads, they are so good. Excellent food, terrific service and a beautiful place to dine. What more could you ask for at WDW.

We ate there for the first time two weeks ago. Never ate there before because DW was afraid the food would be too spicy. BIG surprise, it wasn't! DW loved it. We are going again on the 10th of January, and she can't wait. :p Funny, we never even noticed the changing colors. Is it throughout the whole restaurant, or just in the main area? We were seated in what seemed to be a seperate area next to the bar. Guess we will watch closely on January 10th.

:cool1: We were told by concerige at CBR (Last Jan) to try to get to AKL to JIKO for dinner. I was very skeptical as I am a "keep it simple cheeseburger" person and DH loves anything new and exciting food-wise. Well went and ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. Our waiter explained the entire menu to us and what we would probably like and might not like etc etc. He was wonderful. The atmosphere is super and yes the WALLS CHANGE COLOR as you eat. So make sure you make a reservation and put that at the TOP of your list. :earsboy: momrek06

I love Jiko for all the reasons you mentioned: the food, the atmosphere and the service. I've had my birthday dinner there twice in the past 3 years and just made an ADR last night for my next birthday. I celebrated my birthday this year at the California Grill and it was very nice, but I prefer the food at Jiko so next year I'm going back to Jiko.

DH and I are vegetarians and Jiko has more interesting vegetarian options than anyplace else we've tried in WDW. I get cravings for one appetizer in particular, the "Lentil Pastilla" - Lentil filled phyllo pockets with a sweet and sour sauce. I could make a meal out of just those and a nice salad and dessert. DH's favorite appetizer is the "Taste of Africa": Kalamata Olive Hummus, Malayan Spinach Lentil dip, Moroccan Chermoula, with Pappadam, whole wheat lavosh, and flaxseed Naan bread. I love the tandoori butter that they serve with the bread. Yum!

I'm usually too full for dessert but last time we were there we split the Pistachio Creme Brulee. It has a layer of chocolate on the bottom and it was heavenly!

Great reviews. I am really looking forward to going to this place. Sounds great.
