I would HIGHLY recommend Jiko. We have been on DDP and used the 2 TS credits gladly and we have paid OP gladly (we use the tables in wonderland card to help reduce the price).

The Filet is great, flat breads are VERY good! I just can't say enough good about the food. It has different flavors than you can get in most places and it is a place that we eat at multiple times each trip.

Agreed. We are actually eating at Jiko twice on our next trip as we are doing the afternoon safari at AKV and then eating there again another night on our own. It's our favorite restaurant. Their BBQ chicken flatbread is wonderful and the filet with mac and cheese is also great.

We;ve never made it to Boma's yet in all of our trips to AKL/AKV because we love Jiko so much. This next trip we are starting with dinner at Boma on arrival night so we'll see. Personally, I prefer the atmosphere of a nice sit down restaurant to a buffet line. But we've heard so many good things about Boma that we thought we'd try it on this trip.

We were there last month, on the DDP and also have the Tables in Wonderland card. It was sooooo worth the 2 dining credits each...

This restaurant is in our top 3 (#1 Victoria & Alberts, #2 California Grill)

Being on the Deluxe dining plan we got APP (flatbread - awesome!), Entree and Dessert. Cost for each of us (had we paid), was between $60-$70 a piece! We used TIW for a bottle of wine and got 20% off...

I am not sure if it is worth 2 credits, but I will say that we love Jiko! Although we had the dining plan, we paid out of pocket when we went to Jiko our last trip. I definitely recommend Jiko.

DSis and I will be eating there in March. When I made the ADR I asked how to get a seat in the cooking area, and was told to ask when we check in.
I do not think it's worth 2 TS, especially since even though you're paying 2, you don't get an appetizer, and we've had some good ones to share. I have the TIW card.

DH and I will also be eating there after the Safari, that will be twice for me in a week, I'm very lucky.

Jiko's is our favorite onsite restuarant. We eat there at least once every trip, sometimes more than once.

We aren't big buffet fans, but as far as buffets go, Boma's is very good.

We ate at Jiko during our last trip. (It was the trip we bought AKV!)
We absolutley 100% loved it. It was SOOO good. We split the flatbread with the apples (oh. my gosh. good) and then I had the tanglewood chicken and fiance had the braised short ribs. We split the dessert with the lavender ice cream.
We sat in the main area of the restaurant. The ambiance was fantastic and very romantic. There were actually very little children there. I would say maybe 5? It seemed to be ALOT of couples or older groups. Which was nice for a romantic dinner.
I'll say we were on the DP and did NOT use it for this restaurant. I frequent wdwtoday podcast and Len says never to use the DP for 2 TS credits. We paid OOP and then used the extra TS to have an EARLY breakfast the day we left in the Magic Kingdom.

I won't comment about whether it's worth 2 credits or not because I don't think the DDP is a good value anymore so I'm too jaded to respond objectively. That said, there are some restaurants I try to experience every time I visit WDW, and Jiko is one of them!

ETA: I forgot to mention that we use TIW now and it seems so much easier - no figuring out how many credits we have, no paying extra if we want an appetizer, discount on wine and other drinks...

I too no longer think the DDP is a good value, but JIKO certainly is! We also use the TIW card, and saved nearly $200 compared to what we would have spent on the DDP.

It is the "Tables in Wonderland" card, previously known as the Disney Dining Experience. It is available for purchase for FL residents or Annual Passholders. It gives a 20% discount on food and beverage at most table service places in WDW.

Does the Florida resdient have to be there with you? I sthere a name on the card? Do they ID the person with the card?

Ha ha! Small world! We'll be there at 9pm! A late night dinner will be nice! But this time we're not staying at AKLV so we won't get to just walk back up to the room after!

I think ours are for 7:30... We are celebrating my Dad's birthday. They haven't been before, so I am hoping that they love it.

If the TIW card belongs to a resident then yes they have to be with you. Some places check ID, some don't. You can also buy it if you are an AP holder.

Since we haven't met your kids it's hard to say.

However, this does seem to be an adult resturant. It's Disney so they have kids menus etc, but the atmosphere is VERY grwon up. It's quite and there' no "entertainment" It's also a longer meal.

As for the tour, I don't think the young one would get it at ALL. Not sure what the age requirement is but the kids may be too young.

We took our 10 and 12 year old nephew and niece in December. They loved the food but dubbed it "slow dining." We used that term for the rest of the trip to describe most TS dinners. They were just itching to get out of the restaurant to go explore the hotel.

That said, there are always a lot of kids at Jiko. As long as they are well behaved, I'd say no problem in bringing them.

Looking for revues. We are going for a short trip and are doing DDp. Is it worth using 2 sitdown meal credits????

We used the 2 credit deal when you used to get appetizers. We paid for one meal out of pocket and got a full meal on the plan, then used our dining experience for wine. That was worth it, with a flatbread appy and nice dessert. We didn't plan this in advance - that's the number of credits we had by the time we reached Jiko.

Now ...I don't think so.

Jiko is our choice for every trip. We also like Boma, but would definitely choose Jiko first. We've tried almost every dinner there, and my favorite is the Chermoula Chicken. I love these flavours. The soups are excellent. The flatbread varies - I've had them all multiple times, and they are all worth choosing at least once. The best flatbread I've ever had in a Disney restaurant was at California Grill - Chicken and Avocado - now gone from their menu.

The short ribs were excellent, but in my personal opinion the filet was very good, but kind of ordinary tasting....not a 'wow' ...just a very good meal. Best dessert was a 'special' that the waiter offerred. They've also offerred other not on the printed menu specials that we found excellent. So listen carefully to what the waiter tells you during that first visit to your table.

I love sitting in the wine room. It's usually quiet and secluded and I find when I'm in there I get better and more personal service from the staff. The hustle of the larger room seems to hurry the waitstaff along. That said, the large room is very nice and I also love the cooking place.

We just returned from the Animal Kingdom Lodge and had dinner for the first time at Jiko - we loved it - and we did use the DDP for 2 ts credits each. Prior to our dinner, we took the free tour of Jiko and Boma. You get to sample soups and zebra domes at Boma and flatbreads and dipping sauces at Jiko. We had the filet and mac and cheese at Jikos, which we loved. Tonight we tried to replicate our dinner at Jiko using the recipe from allears. It was excellent.
