Jiko

I don't use DDP so I can't say if it's worth two credits but it's one of my favorite resturants on property. I have a reservation there next month!

Looking for revues. We are going for a short trip and are doing DDp. Is it worth using 2 sitdown meal credits????

Twice i wanted to try it.... but twice loooking at the menu, not sure if it's worth 2 TS credit, so i ended up going to Boma instead, which we love. But my friend did say the food at Jiko was pretty good and he likes it.

We don't do the DDP, but instead use the TIW (DDE). Jiko is one of our favorite restaurants and we actually have a reservation there on Tuesday night! Their flatbreads are wonderful! Last time I had the filet with mac and cheese and loved it! DH had short ribs which he could not get enough of! They have a great selection of wine as well! We've always had great service as well! We love it!

We don't use the DDP but had the DDE (now TIW) card. Last summer we finally tried Jiko and skipped Boma for dinner. It's good...but honestly, we REALLY like Boma. Boma has been my fav. since forever. Since you don't have to pay with cash go for it. (But next time try Boma!)

I would recommend trying to get a table that is NOT in the secluded room at the front of the restaurant. We got stuck there once and the ambiance was very dull and shut off and impacted our overall dining experience. Both Jiko and Boma have very vibrant atmospheres and smells and a lot of energy, part of why we love them both. You miss out on that by sitting in the "cave". Just an opinion - YMMV.

Can I just say something :offtopic:...This is a great point! A lot of restaurants have areas that have a less desireable ambiance and I bet most people who have never been to a lot of these restaurants (like me) don't even think to consider where they will be seated. (I could tell you stories at various restaurants)

This is actually one of my pet peeves but never thought to ask fellow Dis'ers about this at Disney Restaurants.

Thanks you for mentioning this. As I get closer to making my ADR's I may start a thread asking this very question

Actually if you go solo you or in a small group you USED to be able to sit at the "bar" and watch the kitchen. Not sure you can still do that but if you can it's great.

(I will have to ask when I go in March)

Boma's nice, but I much perfer the quality and service at Jiko.

One of the things I think DDP has done is "dumbed" down the menus etc. Those "2 credit" places are now where I spend my money. I don't do a "sit down" but a couple of times over a week stay and would perfer a NICE GOOD meal LOL! Not a "squeeze the profit" out of that $39 a day meal!

I do quality over quanity and IMHO the DDP is all about "quanity"

Dh and I love Jiko. It is one our favorites. Last visit we sat at The Cooking Place (it's the counter) and enjoyed watching the chefs prepare the appetizers. They are very informatitve and we enjoyed talking to them. It was fun. Dh also likes the short ribs, he thinks they are the best.

Enjoy!

Jiko is the cream of the crop when it comes to Signature restaurants! We never miss at least one dinner there a trip. As for the DDP....We don't find it to be a "deal" for us, and we get by much cheaper on our own with the TIW card. We'll be doing Jiko again in May along with Artist Point one night too. Those are the only 2 Signatures we will NOT miss in a trip!

I would HIGHLY recommend Jiko. We have been on DDP and used the 2 TS credits gladly and we have paid OP gladly (we use the tables in wonderland card to help reduce the price).

The Filet is great, flat breads are VERY good! I just can't say enough good about the food. It has different flavors than you can get in most places and it is a place that we eat at multiple times each trip.

Love Jikos! The filet with white chedder mac is great ... but I sure miss the stuffed quail with cranberry glaze. Bring back the quail! :cheer2:

I won't comment about whether it's worth 2 credits or not because I don't think the DDP is a good value anymore so I'm too jaded to respond objectively. ;) That said, there are some restaurants I try to experience every time I visit WDW, and Jiko is one of them!

ETA: I forgot to mention that we use TIW now and it seems so much easier - no figuring out how many credits we have, no paying extra if we want an appetizer, discount on wine and other drinks...

We dine at Jiko everytime we visit WDW.

We had dinner there a few weeks ago.

:thumbsup2

DSis and I will be eating there in March. When I made the ADR I asked how to get a seat in the cooking area, and was told to ask when we check in.
I do not think it's worth 2 TS, especially since even though you're paying 2, you don't get an appetizer, and we've had some good ones to share. I have the TIW card.

DH and I will also be eating there after the Safari, that will be twice for me in a week, I'm very lucky.

Bobbi:goodvibes

What is a twi card?:confused3

It is the "Tables in Wonderland" card, previously known as the Disney Dining Experience. It is available for purchase for FL residents or Annual Passholders. It gives a 20% discount on food and beverage at most table service places in WDW.

Hey, we are going to be there Tuesday night as well. We can't wait. It is our favorite restaurant.

Ha ha! Small world! We'll be there at 9pm! A late night dinner will be nice! But this time we're not staying at AKLV so we won't get to just walk back up to the room after!
