I like to hear from anyone that ate before at Jiko in the AKL. We went there last month and it stunk. Got a undercooked filet. Too much curry on the shrimp, very cold pork tenderloin. Someone recommended this place to us and it was such a disappointment.

Now I would like to hear your thoughts.....

Wow! We've dined there five times now, and have loved each one. It's our favorite WDW restaurant. Our food and service have always been great.

Did you complain about the food? What was done for you?

Anne

I got a raw fish (not rare, raw-and it wasn't sushi). the service was mediocre. the atmosphere was wonderful. They took back the fish and brought it out again when it was properly done. It was OK, but I wouldn't make a side trip for it. I liked Boma MUCH better.

We ate there with some friends of mine and had a great meal. Their kids even liked it. I remember walking out very full....

we have dined there several times and it has always been fabulous!! sorry to hear of such a bad experience. hope you will consider giving it another chance.:p

I've only been there once, in October 2002, but it was absolutely excellent.

Jiko was wonderful when we were there! Chef Annettte and the flatbread-yummy! We only had appetizers and drinks, with pizza for DS. Our bill was about $90-well worth it! Definitely one of our favorite WDW restaurants!

We just returned from a long weekend at AKL. We ate at Jiko's first and at Boma's a couple nights laterfor dinner. We had been to Boma's many times before and loved it every time. I really liked Jiko's, but I thought that it was too pricey. Our bill was $130 at Jiko's and $70 Boma's including wine for 2 adults and 1 3 year old. The food was better at Jiko's, but not 100% better.

We started with Duck and Pork Firecracker. Nice, but not fab. I had the filet with mac and cheese. I don't get the mac and cheese facination, but the beef was perfect. My DH had the Monkfish which was great. We split the Jiko "Baklava" along with a pot of pressed coffee. It was also very nice, but lacking in something. I was excited about the creme brulee until I read it was flavored with pistachio and had a chocolate layer on the bottom. I am a creme brulee purist :(.

I don't think we will return to Jiko's unless we are guests of AKL again. We will, however, make Boma's an "every trip" stop.

robinb pretty much summed up my experience! I just didn't see the value for the money spent. Boma is the one we will return to again and again!

Jiko is one of my favorite spots at WDW. Dined there at least 6 times, and always a great meal.

DH & I loved Jiko when we ate there during our adult-only anniversary trip. He had salmon and I had the tofu grain dish. The So.African wines were another plus. We've been waiting to have a family meal there w/ DSs (16 & 9). After a so-so meal at Boma in March, we decided to try Jiko in Aug. We spent time reading the Jiko menu because we waited "too long" even w/ a PS, for an early seating at Boma. I'll report back after our Aug. trip. It should be interesting because this is one of the restaurants we want to work with to stay on our So.Beach diet.

It's our favorite restaurant on Disney property. We can't wait for next September when we'll be back to try it again. On our last trip as good as V&A's was it was not the divine experience that Jiko was.
