Looking for a recommendation. We are staying at AKL and are already eating at Boma and Saana. I have read mixed reviews on Artist Point but did not want to overdue the African themed restaurants. Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks

Ate at Artist Point a few years ago and we loved it. Not so sure with the rumors it is going to be a character meal. The mushroom soup is awesome.

In your situation, I'd go for Artist Point for the change in cuisine. AP is very good but can take some time to get to since Disney doesn't provide resort to resort transportation. Uber, Lyft, or taxi isn't bad though.

It probably would be nice to mix it up, however, I like Jiko much more than Artist Point. I would choose Jiko over all of the other restaurants you mentioned. If I wanted to have a change, I would choose Jiko, Saana or Boma, and Flying Fish.

When are you going? AP is only available to book through the end of October. I've never eaten here but have it booked for early October. In my opinion, Jiko is the best restaurant on Disney property.

We’re also staying at AKV and dining at Boma and Jiko. We’ve been to Sanaa twice and thought it’s time to try Jiko. We debated AP but Jiko’s menu lookus better to me; foods I cannot get unless maybe we drive into LA and even then I’m not sure. Good luck in your decision. Either way I’m sure you’ll have a terrific meal!

We enjoy both. Since you are eating at the other 2 and there is a question about AP going to character meals,I would do Artist Point. We have never had a bad meal there and enjoy the menu. Although, in our favorites list, it would be below Jiko.

From among those you mentioned, I would do Boma, Jiko, and Artist Point, and skip Sanaa if I couldn't do all four. However, the future of Artist Point after late October is currently unknown, so if you're going after that, circumstances could make the decision for you.

I see others have pointed out the problem with AP. If you are going before October 28, I would suggest choosing AP now. Who knows what will become of that restaurant after October?

Just echoing what many others have said. For variety, I'd do AP, especially since after dinner you can walk over to Geyser Point to watch the fireworks with piped in music and enjoy an after dinner beverage. However, AP is going down for an undetermined amount of time after Oct 28, and when it reopens, the well-sourced rumor is that it will be characters for every single meal: breakfast, lunch, dinner.

This.

I enjoyed both Jiko & AP. If you are going before the end of October then I would go to AP to see the Wilderness Lodge which is beautiful and to experience something different. I am sad that AP may be going away. The mushroom soup is amazing as is the Salmon.

Of the two? Go to JIKO. AP is DEAD after 10-28-2018.
This. Sadly, my beloved Artist Point isnt accepting ADRs after the end of Oct. I'd suggest you go there if youre able to get an ADR (I dont know when your trip is). AP is my fave restaurant on property. Amazing food! If your trip is Nov and later, AP wont be an option anymore. This still makes me sad because the food is phenomenal.

I would never give up Jiko. If you want a change of pace, I would substitute out Sanaa (or do it for lunch) before I ditched Jiko ... and I love Sanaa. Or do Boma for breakfast, given that Boma breakfast is the single greatest breakfast on property. AP is (or was) fine, but if you want to change up pace, consider Flying Fish ... it was our favorite spot last November (and I don't even eat seafood).
