Jiko or Flying Fish - which to go for?

I've always fancied trying the steak and mac n cheese at Jiko but I must say the Flying Fish menu looks great. Which would you recommend please?

It is all a matter of taste but we are just back from a stay at the Boardwalk and can tell you that we were really disappointed in the Flying Fish.

I had the steak which was pretty good but would not say it is anything better than the NY strip at Le Cellier. Anna had the salmon and didnt really enjoy it.

As for dessert, I had the trio of Sorbet and I have never had a worse dessert that on property. Only Chef Mickeys prepares food to such a low standard. The citrus sorbet was rancid and acidic, the White Tea and Mint tasted of nothing and the Pinapple and Lime Sorbet tasted ok, but tasted nothing like lime or pineapple. Anna had the Banana Napolean, which she said wasn't very good, explaining that the one at the Yachtsman Steakhouse was far superior.

I definately want to try Jiko as well, as the Filet looks great, and it may be a good idea for our next visit to WDW!

We prefer Jiko. We had a subpar meal at FF, sadly, not horrible but our entrees were not flavorful and the desserts a disappointment, plus, on the day we were there, the restaurant smelled faintly of sewage as if a toilet had backed up.

We've eaten at both many times and overall, we prefer FF. I'm not sure I'd order a steak at a place that specializes in fish but all of our fish courses here have been very good. I can't speak to the dessert as I'm not a dessert eater but they offer one of the best cheese plates on property.

I've had the steak with mac n cheese 3 times at Jiko and like anything else at WDW, it has been inconsistent, ranging from excellent to just okay. The last time I had it, I had to hunt for the mac n cheese and my steak was overcooked. To me, the real stars of the show at Jiko are the appetizers and soups and they have never disappointed.

We strongly prefer Flying Fish, but they are both well-reviewed restaurants. Maybe you can decide how you'd like to spend your evening: exploring the Animal Kingdom Lodge or strolling the Boardwalk.

P.S. My husband had the steak at Jiko last January. He was unimpressed. The waitress tried to steer him to something else, so even SHE was not a fan of it. I think the review was, "Eh, it was just a steak." My husband adored his mushroom-y steak at Le Cellier so go figure.

P.P.S. He's loved every entree he's had at Flying Fish. I mean LOVED.

P.P.P.S. I didn't mention my entrees because they were the vegetarian options, so maybe not so relevant for most. The last entree I had at FF was a pasta dish that was remarkably delicious.

We prefer Jiko but then we ate FF a few years ago. I have read a couple of reviews about FF deciding if we should add it for future trip and I have been reading inconsistant with FF.

My husband and I love the Flying Fish. The food and service have always been excellent. We always have signature dish which is a potato wrapped snapper with a red wine sauce - it is too die for. Their crabcakes are very good. We always order their sorbet trio and it is excellent. I would def. not order steak at a seafood restaurant but if you stick to the seafood - you will love it. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
