Jiko or Boma

Does Boma have items for picky eaters? Was hoping for roast beef or turkey. I'm not too adventurous.

We've eaten at both Jiko and Boma, and far preferred Jiko.

I was so looking forward to Boma, but we didn't like it much at all. All of the food seemed to taste like cinnamon. Also, we haven't been too happy with the buffets in general on our last couple of visits.

Jiko, on the other hand, was absolutely fantastic.

Thanks for the advice, but as I said it "isn't" an issue I've used the deluxe plan many times, so I know how it works and I think I know if it is an issue or not, just this past April we "saved" over $500 & had some credits to spare, so although I know how to get more for the credits, it really isn't a priority, not that it was last time either. I just asked to compare the restaurants and I didn't care about price or credits but I wanted to put that in there so I didn't get feedback on price as it wasn't an issue.
But thanks for the advice, although you didn't answer my question just told me about the credits/system (this might sound mean & I am not trying to be, I just though it was funny)

I believe that Jiko has higher quality, superior food to Boma (as it should, since it is much more expensive). However, if you are a grizzled veteran of Deluxe Dining (for which I envy you), and you haven't been to Boma yet, I would strongly advise you to try Boma. The best thing about Boma is that, as a buffet, it offers a good variety of some of the most interesting and unique food in all of Disney. It's my second favorite place to eat in the World. (@rance, they have less adventurous items as well. They used to have an awesome prime rib, but I don't know if they still have it.)

Jiko also tries to be unique, but at the end of the day, they are only going to offer a few dishes and they have to please the masses. To wit, their "signature" dish is a steak that would be at home on the menu of any restaurant in the World.

It really depends....do you want to try a little of everything or just have one meal? But I personally love Boma. However, reservations are harder to get for Jiko, so I'd keep them.

I see several options:

If you loved Jiko and really want to return, go.

Boma isn't similar to Jiko and its one of my favorite places to eat at WDW.
- Boma breakfast is the best at WDW, I'd definitely do that one
- Boma dinner is wonderful too

Do them both if you can, but this time don't miss Boma. It is well worth the time.

Maybe I'll try to fit in Boma, if not definetly next time. What is your favorite restaurant in DW?
My DH had their steak with mac & cheese and didn't really care for the meat & neither did I (but that was a theme at least to us in Disney, this past trip and even last year. The filets and regular steaks, except for Brown Derby weren't very good, even at Le Cellier, I think it's just okay, but I'm use to going to nice steakhouses at home/other places like Vegas, so we now try to stick to no steaks at Disney. I think they just don't get good quality steaks or something). The ribs which I heard are not on the menu anymore were fantastic. & the mussel app was outstanding too. My DH got the flat bread & didn't like it much - he didn't luck out last time but my meal was very very good but I was so full from the mussel app, it was a huge dish, that he ate most of my entree.

Stick with Boma.

Jiko was an awful experience for us. The waitstaff (coughEDUARTOcough) doesn't pay a bit of attention to you unless you're drinking alcohol, didn't bring us bread, only refilled drinks once in almost 3 hours, and the steak was veiny and terrible. This was our experience, and others have commented on the service when you don't drink as well.

At Boma you can wait on yourself, try new things and the staff is fun and friendly!

These reviews are interesting. MY first thought was to go to Boma, but then after reading the menu for Jiko, I was intrigued and couldn't make up my mind.

We're thinking of going on a Saturday night. I haven't even been to the AK Lodge so I thought Boma would be a fun atmosphere.

We won't be using the dining plan so I was hoping going to Boma would be the cheaper option too.

Jiko is 2 credits on the dining plan.

I am not impressed with the current state of Disney buffets, and I used to love Boma. Even Boma has cheaped out now. No way would I cancel Jiko for Boma. But if you aren't hung up on how the buffets used to be better, it likely won't matter to you.

Went to Jiko last Friday and I have nothing negative to say about it, except my friend didn't really like the soup but thought the wild boar appetizer was fantastic. I liked the curry shrimp. It is spicy and Disney generally doesn't have the nerve to serve spicy. Service was okay, nothing special. We were drinking wine. Jiko has a fantastic selection of South African wines.

Right now, I would actually pick Sanaa over either Boma or Jiko. Dining credits don't enter into any of my calculations, as I don't do the dining plan. Also not factoring in Boma's breakfast, because I don't mess with breakfast in restaurants.

Have not dined at Jiko but very much enjoyed meals at Sanaa and Boma. Sanaa was a better quality experience but both Sanaa and Boma do a good job at what they are designed to do. Show up hungry if you go to Boma.

DW and I have eaten at Boma many times and it is our favorite Disney restaurant. That being said, Boma has several buffet menus during the week and Saturday is my day of choice since I know I can get their delicious spare ribs. We have dined at Jiko, and while it was a wonderful experience with great food, I still prefer the options offered by Boma's buffet. As a previous poster noted, if you make a bad choice at Jiko, you will not have an enjoyable meal. At Boma there is always something else to try.

If you are looking for a quiet, intimate dining experience, Jiko should be your choice. If you are looking for a fun, interactive meal, with lots of great foods to sample, then make it Boma.

I would keep Jiko, but my opinion is biased. There isn't any restaurant I would choose over Jiko.
