Jiko or Boma?

Jiko is a signature which is very good from what I hear. Doing next trip.:thumbsup2
Boma- is a very good Buffet. Been here many of times.
So it really depends on where you want to eat and what you want to eat.
Either way you can't go wrong.

I've been to both restaurants quite a few times, and prefer Boma. Though if you're looking for a more upscale, romantic restaurant, I'd choose Jiko. Or Sanaa, that's very good too.

I don't like buffets. I don't care how good the food is. I don't like queuing up for my dinner. I want a chef to design my meal and prepare it, and I want a server to bring it to me. Just my personal preference. 100 times out of 100, if you ask me to choose between a buffet and a sit-down restaurant, I'm going to choose the latter.

That being said, Jiko is a fantastic retaurant, one of the best in the whole of WDW. Even if I liked buffets (and I hear Boma is a very good one), I'd still choose Jiko.

Aside from being next to each other, there's not much to compare here -- they're two very different dining experiences. At the end of the day, Boma is a buffet -- a nice buffet, but a buffet, and the food isn't too adventurous. It's also comparatively inexpensive.

Jiko is more along the lines of "fine dining" and the menu does leave the comfort zone for many people (Sanaa goes even further). I think it's the best restaurant at WDW, so if you have the time and money I'd pick Jiko.

We have never been to Jiko, but we love Boma. I don't usually like buffets either, but I thought that the food quality and selection at Boma were great.

this is a tough one. we actually had the same question for our honeymoon trip. we love boma (my fiance's favorite soup in the whole world is there), but i wanted him to try jiko this time, because they have really good food there. in the end we decided on boma, because of the whole soup thing. lol. the thing i like about a buffet is the ability to have small portions of everything i like or that appeals to me and i can save room for dessert (yum, zebra domes!)!

As "nytimez" already said 2 completely different dining experience. I think the dining party & what type of dining experience you are looking for would dictate your choice of 1 over the other.

I've eaten at all 3 table service AKL restuarants. Loved Sanaa (1 of my fav. all time Disney meals), Jiko was very good & Boma was ok.

I think the food at Boma is much more adventurous than at Jiko (the flatbreads and filet mignon at Jiko, the 2 most popular menu items, are far from adventurous) but the atmospheres at the 2 are very different. For fun and adventure, we go to Boma. For a grownup adult conversation, sharing a bottle of wine type of meal, we go to Jiko. We also think Sanaa food is pretty good but the atmosphere is more lively than at Jiko.

Golden Corral or that fancy, upscale place everyone in town raves about you've been wanting to try?

Boma is a buffet - albeit a very good one - best on WDW property, probably.

Jiko is fabulous and the best meal we've ever had anywhere (I'm sure that title will be replaced after our trip to Victoria & Alberts in December, but still...)

I would say Jiko. I have a severe tree nut allergy and the chef at Boma was rude and very unaccommodating. We would never go back. We actually left Boma and accidentally stumbled across Nine Dragons in China- which we had never been to before. The service was unbelievable, as well as the dumplings, egg rolls, strawberry red bean and caramel ginger ice creams, and their plethora of menu options. They also have the best iced tea- it's a green jasmine. I would recommend it to anyone.

Can't help. Both are must dos on our trips. We love Kidani but part of our love for the resort is that it has our two favorite restaurants. (Sanaa is pretty good too.)

Wow. Sorry to hear that. We had a completely different experience than you at Boma. My cousin has celiac disease and the chef at Boma took her around the buffet and told her exactly what she could eat. He also brought her a dessert from Jiko that she could eat because she couldn't have anything at the buffet. Maybe the chef was having a bad day?

They're really 2 very different experiences, so choose which one you're intersted in. We love Boma, but have not tried Jiko.

What a shame. I'm sorry that happened!

We had a similar experience. My niece has several food allergies and the Chef was fabulous. She escorted my brother and niece through the buffet, and after thinking about it, said that she would be more comfortable if she prepared something seperately! The plate she brought out was incredible - lots of variety, creativity and all this was for a 4 year old! I'll always remember the look in my brother's eyes when they brought it out, he was so touched that so much effort had gone into making sure his little princess got a wonderful meal, and not just grilled chicken with steamed vegetables!

We've eaten at all 3 AKL restaurants. I'd put them in order of my preference 1. Boma 2. Sanaa 3. Jiko

How about Boma Breakfast, Jiko Dinner? Isn't it nice to have such choices.

We are actually doing both, but doing Boma with the kids for an early dinner (4:30), and then a late dinner for just the 2 of us at Jiko. Jiko is one of the three adr's I am most excited about.

Jiko by far is the superior of the two. However, the food at Boma is very good as well. We have enjoyed both breakfast and dinner at Boma but Boma cannot match the quality of food produced at Jiko!:hippie:
