I have reservations for Jiko and was wondering if any one has any opinions on this restaurant? I want to try it because I'm more adventurous in my eating. Buffets don't appeal to me as much, but is the food better at Boma?

Just came back last night. Jiko was our best meal of the trip. Excellent food and service. We also had a great meal at Kouzzina.

Flying Fish and Raglan Road were very good, Crystal Palace for breakfast was much better than I expected. Biergarten, Sanaa, Olivia's were above average.

Grand Floridian Cafe was BELOW average, as was Chef De France.

We have eaten at Jiko several times and have really enjoyed it. I will say there is one dish that we continue to reorder because we LOVE:love: LOVE:love:LOVE:love: it and that would be the Barbecue Beef Short Ribs with Potato-Mushroom Pavé and Onion-Garlic Sauce. The meat is so tender it falls off the bone and melts in your mouth!:goodvibes We have ordered other entrees that are good, but this is the winner on our book.

They also have a great selection of wines.:thumbsup2

Enjoy your dinner...

We have eaten at Boma and Jiko during the same week and Jiko was very good and my husband and I did not enjoy the dinner at Boma (breakfast much better). My husband loved it so much that we went back again 2 nights later and then the last night he had room service from Jiko.

If you're not a buffet kind of person, I definitely think you'll enjoy Jiko more. Food's wonderful at both, but Jiko is rather upscale and there's more attention to detail and dish presentation. It's so easy to overeat at Boma with all the different flavors. We're not buffet people at all, and we ate there once. I swear, it took our group a couple days to recover from being so bloated and full!

Jiko is absolutely fabulous, and I consider it one of the greatest restaurants on property. I also generally dislike buffets, Boma excluded, but Jiko is in another class in food quality and overall experience. The service is consistently wonderful, and I doubt there is a disappointing item on the menu.

Definitely save room the doughnut dessert served with spectacular, rich Kenyan coffee ice cream.

Boma is more varied by a long shot than is Jiko, but Jiko has what I consider to be a better quality dining experience, as well as better quality food. It does not have the range of adventurous choices that Boma has.

I'd take Jiko 9 times out of 10 for dinner.

We have eaten there a few times & it's one of our favs. I am picky & really liked what I had.

Personally i didn't care for the seasoning on the food. However, the other three people in my party really enjoyed their meal.

I consider Jiko as a tie for second with Bistro, obviously following V&A in favorites.

You can't really compare Jiko and Boma. It's like apples to oranges. Sure, they're both fruits...but yeah, you get the idea.

Jiko is amazing. I had a wonderful meal there, with very good service. The combination of ingredients are unusual to most Americans and they make for fun new flavors.

We went to Jiko on our last trip and it is DH's favorite. :thumbsup2
that being said, it sort of fell short of my expectations because I love to eat new and different cuisine and really wanted to try lots of different new things and at those prices that is not really an option.
Waitress steered us away from the African bread & dip appetizer..:confused3
and I, like PP had the beef short ribs which were very good.
But nothing really any better than what I make at home.

What is nice is sitting there, enjoying the ambiance, the special signature touches, being waited on and everyone ordering what they want.
(HA! You won't get that at my house! :rolleyes1 )

So the food was really good and Jiko is really a signature dining experience so if that is what you are looking for than you have found the right place!

But if you are looking to try lots of new foods from a different culture then Boma might be more your thing.
Can't wait to try it out in October! :woohoo: :yay:

We loved jiko's. Boma is great for breakfast but it is expensive and not amazing for dinner.

I know that I am in the minority, but I did not think that highly of Jiko when we were there in February. Granted, I think my husband and I had hit a wall after a week of signature dining, however, I still didn't think it was that great. The service was wonderful and the atmosphere can't be beat. The restaraunt is beautiful and IMO everyone should visit AKL at least once. That said, I had the filet with mac and cheese and thought the mac and cheese was kind of chalky and not all that unlike boxed mac and cheese. We also had the ckn bbq flatbread for an app and didn't love that, either.

Are you doing a dining plan? If you're doing the DxDDP, I'd say to go for it. It is highly likely we just hit it on an off night.

Our absolute favorite!! When I am about to die, I want my last meal to be from Jiko..it's that good!

I have been to Jiko twice and we are going back again this year. This past year was not as good as the first experience, but still great. I rank it right up there with Citricos.

I did a review on Jiko this past year if you want to check it below...

Jiko is the best meal we've ever had at WDW, including some of the other signature restaurants, by a long shot. Love Jiko.
