I am pretty certain this $41.00 menu item wasn't on the child's menu in 2008...is this something new and available for kids on DDP? :confused3

I'm willing to bet it's a misprint. I don't think ANYONE would have a $41 entree on a kid's menu!

LOL - several of the signature restaurants have steak on the kids menus but they are priced around $12/$13. I'm also sure this is a misprint and I took a look at the menu on Allears to see how it compares. Here it is:

Tomato and Cheese Pizza $8.00
Peanut Butter and Jelly with fruit, carrot and celery sticks $6.00
Grilled Cheese with carrot and celery sticks, peanut butter dip and fruit $6.00
Grilled Chicken Breast with mashed potatoes, veggies and fruit $9.00
Broiled Fish with mashed potatoes, veggies and fruit $11.00
Grilled Filet of Beef with mashed potatoes, veggies and fruit $13.00
Macaroni & Cheese with White Cheese Sauce - $7.00

That's more like it.

I think they have just put it in the wrong place. If you click on your link above

If you look on the adult dinner menu, the Filet is not on there. So I think they have added to the kids menu instead of the adults :rotfl: Whoops.

Yep, it's a misprint (erm. type?) here on the DIS.

On the official menu it's in the correct location. Someone typoed when doing the data entry here ;).

LOL, thanks all! Just thought I'd ask! :lmao:

The reasons it made me second guess a $41 item on a kid's menu were;

1) Words "mac/cheese"
2) 5/10 updated menu on the DIS! :rotfl2:

The dish is SO delish, but not really kids style mac/cheese, IMO.

Jiko's always served mac & cheese with the adult filet and it's not the standard mac/cheese on most Disney kids menus.

The macaroni and cheese that is on the kid's menu is the exact same macaroni and cheese that comes with the filet.

The context of my quote was in reference to the Oak Filet w/ Macaroni and Cheese w/ Wine Sauce...on a child's menu. The mac/cheese may be prepared the same way however, this particular "dish" has wine sauce poured/mixed in. Again, not exactly the typical kid's menu type mac/cheese. Just my opinion ;)

I think it is pretty obvious based on the typical child's menu offerings that Jiko really doesn't have a $41 filet on a child's menu.

This looks like the menu last week when we ate at Jiko. Definitely no $41 filet on the kids' menu, but there was a kids' steak.

Just a side note - I was totally bummed that the pistachio creme brulee has been taken off the menu. :sad1: I was actually going to skip dessert  until our server brought me a plate of zebra domes! :cloud9:

I never said it was. I said it is the same mac and cheese that is on the Jiko kid's menu. I have had them both in the same meal (when my kids ordered mac and cheese and I ordered the filet) and there is no difference between the mac and cheese in the two dishes.

This will prob end up being a 2 TS restaurant we pay OOP for...and save the credits for other high priced 2 TS kid's menus; CRT $35, HDDR $28, etc.

I've never had the zebra domes. Our first two nights will be at AKL so I'll have to give these a try!

Thanks :goodvibes

I wasn't talking about your post. I was referring to OP's thought that maybe it WAS a kids menu item because it included mac & cheese. Wasn't trying to comment on the type of mac & cheese served with the kids meal, but to mention that they do serve it to adults and always have.

Sorry I misunderstood. Thank you for clarifying.

Thank you. I've never seen this type of official online menu before. Only Allears and DIS.

I haven't been to Jiko in 2 years to make that assumption. I only started searching yesterday and came upon an updated May 2010 DIS menu. That's why I asked.

I know the adult portion always has been Oak Filet w/ Macaroni & Cheese...wine sauce poured over. Kid's Macaroni & Cheese is prepared the same...no wine sauce.

As absurd as it may seem, it was an honest question. It's been pointed out several times that the menu was wrong. I accept that.

We don't do the dining plan, so we pay OOP anyway, but Jiko would probably be a good OOP restaurant depending on what you order. I didn't even order an entree - I ordered the Taste of Africa appetizer and the BBQ chicken flatbread. Both were yummy!

The zebra domes are not on the Jiko menu, but you can buy them at Mara, the CS restaurant. They are also at Boma for dinner. Our server just brought me some because I said I was going to skip dessert and go over to Mara to buy them. ;)

I didn't know you could get the zebra domes from Mara. When we go to Boma, we eat them up.

FYI - I've ordered the filet and mac/cheese all three times were gone to Jikos and LOVED.

Enjoy!
