We are planning to eat at Jiko. Any suggestions as to what I should order? I love steak, seafood, anything - just want to order what they do "best".

My husband loves the shrimp or scallop main courses, while I adore the fish (I think it's halibut) with sauce...that sauce is godly!

For appetizers, I like the lamb rolls but the samosas or daily flatbreads are good too. Just remember that they are going to bring you two kinds of bread with tandoori butter so you might not want to order more bread.

For dessert, I like the lemon curd with white chocolate biscotti. Mmmmmm!

They also have an excellent hot tea selection (it's on the dessert menu so you have to ask if you want it with dinner), and they have the best cheese plate ever...all goat and sheep cheeses.

Jiko is one of our top three faves at the World.

I have not been there yet..going to try it in May..anyway I'm going to get the steak with the mac and cheese so I say get that lol. It looks sooo good!

I have been to Jiko about 10 times and never had a bad meal there, so you are pretty safe ordering anything on the menu that sounds good to you. That being said, the filet with mac and cheeses is spectacular and must be tried.

It all sounds so good - can't wait for March - thanks!

I LOVE the steak with Mac & Cheese. It is one of the beast meals I have ever had. I never get around to ordering anything else on the menu because I love it sooooo much.:thumbsup2

That steak is my favorite meal anywhere at WDW. We also always order the bbq chicken flatbread appetizer. It's to die for! Sounds odd, but tastes great. Just like the steak and Mac/cheese combo sounds odd until you try it.

Also been to Jiko several times, tried almost everything on the menu. Only thing I did not care for (which others have) was the Lamb Shank. The filet, the fish dishes, pork tenderloin, apps, flatbreads are all yummy and they have a killer South African wine list. Save room for dessert if you like sweets, good stuff. FWIW.

OOoooh, I agree with INKOGNITO, order the halibut! The sauce is somekind of tomato/butter thing and it is UNBELIEVABLE!! I could have easily licked that plate clean....Yummy!! The tenderloin w/mac'n cheese is good too, but I'll never go back to that since I've had the halibut.:goodvibes

Dh and I always eat at Jikos at least once each trip and have never had anything we didn't like. Love the Lamb Shank, the Filet, the Fish, the Scallops, the Pork Tenderloin, the vegetarian dish (can't remember the name, but it's grains and it is devine).
If you like wines, then you will be in heaven. Jiko's has a wonderful selection of African wines and the somalier (or even the wait staff) is excellent at making recommendations.
Shhhhhhh! I don't want everyone to know what a fantastic restaurant this is and have it go the way of other disboard favorites.

I personally love the short ribs, but the filet seems to be a signature dish for Jiko and it is really good.

We've got reservations our first night there, and I was planning on ordering the filet with mac & cheese - sounds like I picked a winner!!

I add another recommendation for the filet with the four cheese macaroni. MMMMMMMM it was soooo good. It was so good the first time that we actually made another reservation and went back for dinner a second time to have it again. Oh, I'm hungry thinking about it.

We tried several of the new menu items last month - the ribeye flatbread, samosas, and ostrich filet - and they were all great.

Of course, we still love the old standbys: filet with mac and cheese and pistachio creme brulee.

If you're not sure what wine to order, just ask your server for a suggestion. It's a great way to try something new.

Enjoy!
