For all the Filet with Mac and cheese lovers...

We were there on Sunday, 10/17 and the filet without the mac and cheese was off the menu. (This may be old news.)

This was not a huge disappointment for us, as I typically don't have the filet there and my DBF is not a fan of the Mac and cheese.

It is still a filet (and DBF said it was the best he had had at WDW.) It comes with a potato gratin with gruyere, which he loved. (It also comes with Brocolini, but he asked to have this left off.)

I did ask our server how long ago it changed, and she said only two or three days ago. She also said they still had the mac and cheese in the kitchen for those who asked, but I am not sure how long that will last.

I know it may be of no condolence to tthe mac and chesse lovers, but...it was by far the best meal I have had at Disney. I hope to post a full dining review in the next week. If you have other menu questions, I can try and answer them.

That's disappointing. The red wine reduction really made that dish. I assume since you didn't mention it that it's not a part of the new filet course.

:sad1: my stepson will be sorely disappointed...he's a total foodie and could not believe they were even offering mac and cheese in a sig place...but tried it because the filet looked so good.....he was completely amazed and said he never realized mac and cheese could taste like that!
RIP filet with mac n cheese

I'm sorry to hear it, I'm a big mac and cheese fan. That said, I also have "signature restaurant performance anxiety". I figure I'm in the fancy, high-priced restaurant, I should order that strangest thing on the menu that I know I'll probably be able to eat. Usually end up with ostrich on top of seaweed or something. So I would've been self-conscious about ordering this.

On the bright side, this means that I will not be able to order the filet with macaroni and cheese yet again when I return to Jiko in two weeks. This time, I must try one of the other wonderful sounding entrées on the menu — I have no choice!

Bummer, yes.
But still love the place and will try something new next time.

I always try to keep in mind that Disney has been changing thing since it opened and will continue to do so.
So I try not to worry too much some menu has changed, or something has closed.

I ate at Jiko on Friday, October 15, and I thought the filet with mac and cheese was still on the menu as of then. I didn't order an entree. I had a corn chowder and a wild boar appetizer (new to the menu as of last month!) as my meal.

We were just there on the 9th of October and it was still there. A wonderful meal and we really did enjoy it. I am sorry to see that it is off of the menu. :confused3

That was my fav entree there:sad1: Unless they replace it with something outstanding, it's enough for me to not go again:sad1: Well, this was my #1 all time fav WDW restaurant...It no longer is.:sad2:

I was there Friday and it was on the menu. So the change took place either Saturday or Sunday.

Just to clarify the filet is still on the menu, it's the accompaniments that have changed.

Ummmm....WHAT???

We were there on 10/1 and we ordered it that night. I am really, really sad about this!! :(

That's a family favorite here too. I will be there Saturday evening, and I'll report back on my findings. We are staying at the villas at AKL, so we will still keep our reservation as the flatbreads are a favorite too. But, I will miss the mac and cheese!

Wow, I am surprised it is off the menu, since it was one of their signature dishes..anyway, I actually did not think it was that spectacular. I know a lot of people loved it though.

I feel the same way. We will be trying to find reservations elsewhere for our December trip. No sense in using 2 Table Service credits when we can no longer get our favorite meal.

First the creme brulee & now the mac and cheese....

I hope you will still go back to Jiko. There are so many amazing things on the menu! We had two apps to start, and I had two as my entree. They were all really amazing. The steak is still amazing, and jiko is very good at substitutions.

Oh no! I'm really sad about this, actually... It was one of the main reasons we decided to book Jiko.

I think we'll still give it a shot though!

I had this in 2005, and still recall that my "filet" was of poor quality. I'd so looked forward to trying it, and to then have such fat and gristle. We had a gift card, so the money wasn't out of our pocket, and I didn't have the thought to complain. I still wonder how good it was, when it was done correctly. It was, quite possibly, the worst TS entree I've ever eaten at WDW.

And I had such high hopes, too.
