It sure is. In fact it's highly advised to not drive in Manhattan.
You can get a shuttle or take the subway. Usually a shuttle is easier because (I assume) you'll have luggage.

By train, coming from NYC, you'll take the Harlem Line from Grand Central Station to Ten Mile River. The nearest train station to town is just a short "ooo-ber" away from Kent!*

Wow, just looked at the map... Tenmile River is the next to last stop on the Harlem branch...
By train there are a couple of ways to get to Grand Central...
From JFK take the Airtrain to Jamaica
From Jamaica you have two choices...
1. take the E subway (short walk to the station) to 51st & Lexington and transfer to the 6 which will take to GC
2. Take LIRR to Woodside and transfer to the 7 train which will go to GC
3. Take LIRR to Penn Station... it is about a 15 minute walk to GC (not recommended if carrying a lot of bags)

I've done the walk from Penn to GCT with luggage, it's not awful. I feel like the walk from the E to the 6 train is a long transfer at 51st street (and unless things have changed in the past decade luggage and the 4/5/6 lines don't always go together)

The 7 platform at GCT is at the bottom of planet earth (if memory serves)

Be prepared for it to take up a good chunk of time no matter which way you go...it's about 2 hours from grand central to Tenmile River.

My vote depending on luggage/timetables would be to take the LIRR from Jamaica into penn station and just walk. Worst case scenario you could go up a stop on the 1/2/3 to Times Square and then transfer to the 7 there.

Now I remember why I always flew out of Newark...

If I remember correctly, in addition to the 7 at the 1/2/3, there's also the S (the 42nd St. shuttle that runs between PABT and GCT).

Why not take the express bus. it picks up at JFK and drop at Grand Central. Easier than the train.
