I was stunned to hear this little tidbit on the radio this morning: seems that an overwhelming majority of women would rather receive electronics than jewelry, a trip to Florida, or designer shoes.

Excerpt from online article:

The study found 77 percent of women surveyed would prefer a new plasma television to a diamond solitaire necklace and 56 percent would opt for a new plasma TV over a weekend vacation in Florida.

Even shoes lost out. The study found 86 percent would prefer a new digital video camera to a pair of designer shoes.

I'd pick the trip before any of the others!! Though I have my eye on a London Blue Topaz ring. But definetly a trip.

I'd say no to jewelry, too. There's just so many things I'd rather spend that money on. I did get a 3-stone ring for our 10th anniversary, but that was a rare exception. Other than that, the last piece of jewelry I bought/received was my wedding ring.

I'd rather have something for the house or go on a trip.

Maybe I'm weird in that I have absolutely zero interest in anything electronic. TVs, speaker systems, video games, iPods, whatever...no interest whatsoever. I do like my computer, but I have no idea what kind of memory, or processor, or thingamabobs it has, nor am I interested in upgrading to the latest...as long as it turns on, it's good!

I'm a gadget girl.

I've never been a huge jewelery person, but DH knows that I do want jewelery for our 10th anniversary-he's got just over a year to save for that, lol! He doesn't even buy earrings, knowing that a kitchen gadget or electronic equipment will make me much happier!

Of those choices jewelry would be last on my list. I wear a watch, Timex nothing fancy watch, the same earrings every day and that is it. I have some nicer jewelry that I wear if I am dressing up but otherwise it is just an annoyance for me. Shoes are a practical thing for me, you have to wear them so I buy them. I would rather have new shoes then more jewelry. I would rather have a trip or a new tv over the others.

Don't get me wrong, I love jewelry but I only have so many necks, wrists, ears and fingers! I'd take a trip anywhere but PA and NJ these days!

It really depends. Right now I really want a dual tuner tivo but there are certain types of jewelry that would make me abandon those thoughts and there's trips that would trump all of the above for me.

I'd say no to jewelry too. I have so much I don't wear already. Both my mom and grandmother are jewelry people and I don't know what I'm going to do with the overwhelming amt I inherit.

I agree that I'd rather have electronics, expensive shoes and definitely a trip rather than waste money on jewelry that I won't ever wear.

I voted trip too. I rarely wear jewelry, have no interest in electronic toys, and don't really care about shoes. I do have a long list of places I want to visit. Whenever one of those anniversary commercials come on with the husband giving the wife an anniversary band, I always tell DH I'd much rather have a trip than a diamond ring!

i would pick travel or a new electronic, like a plasma, over the other stuff. Buying jewelry and designer clothing/shoes is flushing money down the toilet for me.

Even above a trip, I'd rather new furniture!
