I just got back from a week of visiting my elderly grandparents in Alabama and had to share the amazing affects of "DVC on the brain"

My grandmother has been a jeweler for decades and has the most amazing pieces of jewelry. My sister and I were looking at some pieces that the brought home from the safe box and looking at the appraisal slips at the same time. As my sister was saying things like "oh i'd pay $15K for this ring" my mind was thinking "I'd so rather have another 150 DVC points!"

The most expensive item was appraised for the mid $30K and boy did my mind start wandering about how many points I could buy and what I'd do with that amazing add on! :cloud9:

Alright, I admit that I would be inclined to sell and buy more DVC!
Bobbi:goodvibes

DVC over jewelry in a heartbeat...and new furniture...and a new car...I could go on..

I would trade things for time with family and life-long memories any day :)

hmmm let me sit here and think about this one...jewelry or dvc...jewelry or time with my family...jewelry or the happiest place on earth...oh heck give me the dvc anyday. Memories last a life time and can't be replaced. I know that with all the lovely and expensive jewelry that my husband has bought me...my kids would fight over the dvc if they had a choice!!!!

DVC, time and memories with my family wins for me no question.

gosh, such a difficult decision--grandma's baubles and then I would need a new wardrobe to go with my new treasures.pirate: DVC points, my comfie clothes and time with my family at the Happy World.:dance3:

I would donate all of it to charity.

Kidding.

I would buy more DVC.

I love jewelry when it's given to me by someone special and it suits my taste. I never buy jewelry for myself. DVC, however... :rolleyes1

You didn't mention how this jewelry suddenly becomes yours. I get that you are having fun here, but the fact that you called your grandparents, "Elderly," and the fact that they have all of this valuable loot can only mean one thing...if there were a large vase or a candlestick nearby God only knows what you would have done. :lmao: :rotfl2:

Jewelry all the way!

I love DVC but I love diamonds, pearls and tanzanite more...

Going to WDW earlier this month I was thinking add-on add-on add-on. After coming back I am very satisfied with the number of points we have. I feel like this way we won't get burned out on it.

As I live in the country of Alaska, and really have very few times I am ever inclined to wear jewelry, I would DEFINATELY go with more DVC. More time to escape the cold winters to sunny Florida and enjoy some of the Disney magic.

remember though - if she gives you any jewelry before she dies - you need to kept it - until she dies.

she may ask to see it on you....:scared1:

you don't want to be disinherted.

I worked for an estate jeweler for a long time, and just remember that the appraised value, and what it might actually fetch in todays economy might be 2 different things, so that ring might only be worth 75 points....;)

I say keep at least one piece that will remind you of your grandmother...to me that would be priceless.

good luck
