Does anyone belong to Trueblue because they are a frequent flier on Jetblue? I just signed up for our families trueblue accounts today and also signed up for the american express jetblue credit card with 20,000 bonus. Is this a good value? we usually fly from NYC area to Orlando. Does anyone know how many bonus points an average flight uses? Thanks for any info.

I have been a TrueBlue member for years, and have had the Amex credit card since it was introduced. They used to offer double points for some purchases such as at restaurants, and sporting events such as golf, which helped the points build up a little more quickly, but they discontinued those things about a year ago, now its basically 1 point per dollar spent on the card. You do still get 8x points using your card and booking Jetblue flights online

There really isnt an average, it can and does vary greatly, the best way to find out is to just go to their website and experiment with the point cost for various priced flights, I have had them from around 5000 points to 10000 points for one way flights. As the flight cost rise so do the points.
You should be able to get at least 1 R/T flight out of 20000 points.

We got them for the point travel award for signing up. I kept my card. I really only use it to book JetBlue flights. The good perks hold for non-expiration of points (vs flying at least once per year) and the occasional free drink or movie they offer.

I've had the JB AmEx for quite a few years, as well. I just booked my flights yesterday for my end of August trip. The flight from JFK to MCO (on a Tues.) is 15,200 points. The flight home (11:30 pm on a Wed. night) was 12,900 points.

The cash prices were outrageous, too, though.

Thanks for all the info everyone. Wow, that seems like alot of points for just one flight from JFK to MCO. I just booked our trip for beginning of Sept for $95 each way from Newark to MCO. We leave on a Sunday around 5pm and return on a Tues at around 8am. I mostly got the card so we wouldn't loose the points if we didn't book before a year was up. I never like paying an annual fee for a credit card but if I can keep the points, I guess $40 isn't that bad.

As an example, one flight costs $92 or 6000 points.

We did not think through how expensive flying would be in August. It was so much cheaper last year, when we went mid-September. I don't like going down there in the evening, though, or coming home early in the morning. I'd rather do it the other way 'round :):goodvibes

Is there anyway to find out how many points a flight costs? I know it shows the price of the flights on the website but how can you get it to show you how many points? Thanks

Go to http://www.jetblue.com/

Fill in the travel dates. Right above the "Find It" button you have your choice of fares in dollars or points. Select points. Click on "Find It".

That's all it takes.

I called for more information and discovered that there is a time lag on when you get your points.

Let's say you make a purchase in March. You get a bill showing all your purchases for March. The points for that purchase don't show on that bill. You have to pay your bill before you get the points. So the points will show on the following bill, and will appear in your True Blue account at that point.

The 20,000 bonus miles that you get for spending $1000 in the first 3 months: I was told that this might not show up until 6-8 weeks later.

So if you're getting the card because you want to use the points to book a flight soon, keep the time lag in mind.

Thanks for the info. I really got the credit card because with it, the points don't expire. If we go a little later one year to the next, I just don't want to loose all our points. Thanks.

20k B6 points is better than the standard offer of 10,000, so congrats! :thumbsup2

As for pricing, in general, the B6 frequent flyer program is based on cost of the ticket. In general, one point has an equivalent value of $0.01, so 20,000 points is roughly equivalent to a $200 in airfare credit. As such, you may/may not be able to purchase a round trip ticket using just these points.

If you want to stack them, consider getting an additional AMEX charge card, as Membership Reward points are transferable to B6. For instance, the Premier Reward Gold charge card by American Express has a standard sign-up bonus of 25,000 MR points after $1,000 spend in three months. However, some people can qualify for a 50,000 MR point offer via CreditCards.com (hint, fill in the info, as it isn't saved by your SSN isn't required to see the offers).

Good luck!
