JetBlue out of Boston

Apologies if this has already been posted. On the JetBlue homepage they announced fights out of Logan to Orlando, Tampa and Ft. Lauderdale starting Jan. 2004.

I checked the dates for my Song flights in January, and JetBlue came in at $159.00 R/T, compared to Song's $190; of course all those Song fares are gone, unless they start dropping prices to match.
If this is the start of a fare war, I'll be spending a lot more time in Orlando

I checked the site, and sure enough:

"From $79 each way, Between Boston and Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando or Tampa. 7-day advance purchase is required. Tickets must be purchased on jetblue.com and travel must be completed by February 10, 2004. Service begins January 7, 2004. "

No wonder Song is adding flights out of Boston. Flights out of Providence or Manchester NH were no big help for us as we live 15 miles from Logan (with quick access by T or taxi). So a genuine discount airline (other than Song, that is) is a welcome change. Having been a Delta frequent flyer since 1985, I will likely still stick with Song, and also for the extra help we get from the wonderful crewmembers with our wheelchair-bound son (Delta/Song being among the few airlines that actually give us the extra help we need). But competition is good. The pressure will likely weed out secondary players in some of the routes, like American on the BOS-MCO route.

I am so happy to hear that JetBlue is coming to Boston! It's great to have another option to fly to Orlando. I miss the 7:00am flight on Song, and it looks like JetBlue is going to offer a flight at 6:45a.m.! I wish they were running for my December trip. I definitely will try JetBlue next time I fly to Orlando.

I saw a lead-in on the news about this last night, but didn't stay awake long enough to hear the details!! Thanks for the info! I agree that the competition will be terrific. I wondered why Song was suddenly adding those (or should I say, re-adding) 7 a.m. flights. Now, maybe the fares will come down a little too!! Yippee.
And Karen...have a great trip. We're planning one for next Dec.

Karen; As of December 7, the 7AM flight on Song has returned. You can check it out at:

I think there are still cheap seats on some of the December flights too, so hurry!
