Not to steal your thread, but here's my jetBlue tale. We should be in the air right now heading from Providence to Orlando, but instead I'm posting this from my living room chair. We were supposed to fly out of Providence today at 6:10 am, but while we were sleeping last night we were awoken by my cellphone ringing with the message that our flight was cancelled. 4 hours before we were to get up to start our vacation our flight is cancelled. So at 10:30 last night I'm on the phone with JB and at first they said they couldn't get us out on a flight until Sunday which would bring our 10 day trip down to 8 days. We can't extend our coming home date. The agent put me on hold for 25 minutes and came back on and told me that she could put us on the exact same flight tomorrow(Saturday) so at least we would only lose 1 day. She said JB never over sells a flight and leaves open seats for handicapped and others so there will be 4 seats for us tomorrow but we won't know where they are until we check in at the airport and the agent will let us know.

It was almost 11:00 pm so while my wife called Disney Dining to cancel our Chef Mickey's ADR at 1:00 pm today so we wouldn't be charged the non cancellation fee, I called Disney reservations to tell them we would be arriving a day later.

So we have our fingers crossed that the cellphone doesn't ring this evening.

Seriously? They didn't have any room, for four people, on any flights today, leaving from Worcester, Boston or Providence? I would be furious!!

This explains my issues too. I changed flight times (for Oct flight) last night and it's not showing up today. I didn't get an e-mail confirmation but somehow my 2 DDs-16 did. Shows correct in DDs' e-mails but not showing on their website (still showing old flight). My CC was charged the change fees though. Not a big deal, though, compared to other folks issues.

Did they offer to fly you out of a different airport or into Tampa instead of Orlando?

g4tink, the agent even told me she checked Hartford and New York and there was nothing, and she said it wasn't JB's fault for the cancellation, but MCO's!!! Supposedly the plane we were to fly on this morning was to leave MCO last night and sit at PVD overnight for our flight today, but JB cancelled it because of lightening, but MCO was still open so who's fault is that? We know someone who flew to PVD also last night from MCO and they flew out after a 2 hour delay.

Then to top it off I had prepaid for Preflight $93 to save some money and when I called them last night to let them know our 10 day ressie would only be 9 the woman said they couldn't refund the 1 day which is no big deal, but if they had given us a flight out of BOS today we would have lost the entire $93 and had to pay for Preflight in Boston.

BTW the agent for JB asked me if I wanted 4 extra legroom seats for $40 apiece. WHAT!?!?!? I obviously said no, and then asked how would they seat my family of 4 with an 8 and 6 year old? I said I don't care if it's 2 and 2 somewhere else or 3 and 1, but that the kids needed to sit with a parent. She said we would be accommodated.

They said they tried Boston, Hartford and NY and there was nothing for today. And they never offered Tampa.

It is probably too late now but if this ever happens again, or for anyone else, Tampa is just over an hour away and if you are renting a car anyway might have opened up an option. I am glad they at least attempted to find an alternative. Sorry for your luck man.

What is Preflight $93??

Preflight Parking. You park your car in their lot across from PVD airport and a shuttle drives over to your vehicle they take your luggage and then drives it and your family across to the airport. When you come home they pick you up at the airport and take you right to your vehicle. I saved $14 by prepaying for my 10 days instead of paying for it when exiting lot after arriving. First time I ever prepaid and NEVER will again.

GL, we always rent a car, but this trip we wanted to save money and my kids wanted to ride ME and take the Disney transportation.

And thanks.

Have you tried to use their app to check in and send bp's from there? Or can you just rely on the electronic bp's?

Even if they when the flight was first cancelled depending on the order of people being called about the cancellation they may have been gone by the time the OP was notified. You would have a whole plane full of people that all wanted to get to Orlando that day that now are trying to scramble for the few open seats on other flights.

Shouldn't they have booked you on another airline? I've had that happen to me before.

Our flight down yesterday was full full. And that was to Tampa. There were very bad storms in the area las tnight

I'm not sure how JetBlue could have controlled the weather in Orlando. Another flight which made it MCO-PVD has nothing to do with the plane you were supposed to fly which couldn't make it to PVD. Maybe a delay made the crew time out. This is the risk you take booking a smaller airline with fewer flights which doesn't interline for tickets on other airlines.

Agree. JB used to have other advantages that could balance this issue like cheaper flights and free bags and credits for price drops but now they are just like the legacy airlines except they dont have the resources to recover and rebook their passengers as quickly during weather and other cancelations.

That was my thought as well. By the time the plane could have left Orlando, based on weather, there may not have been any crew available.

Only if they have an agreement with other airlines. Not all airlines do
They're required to be able to interline since they're a US carrier, and they do it frequently, I see them on AA quite a bit, even, but they only have to do it if it's their own fault - if it's weather, there's no interline requirement at all. B6 is the fifth largest airline in the US, with only AA, DL, UA and WN being larger than them (in that order), not some nobody (even if the four above it are at least three times larger).
