JetBlue/Hawaiian Air Codeshare Question

We are doing the Disney Hawaii cruise next May and about to book airfare. I have a JetBlue account and the flight I want to take is through their partner Hawaiian Air. If I go to the Hawaiian Air site I can book the flight in Extra Comfort seat immediately but when I try to book it on JetBlue I do not get the option to book the Extra Comfort seats. Its an 11 hour flight so want to have the more comfortable seats. I want a direct flight and the times of this flight are good for us.

My question is if I book through JetBlue could I then upgrade to the Extra Comfort seats once I have the reservation booked. It is not offered as an option initally....just Economy, Business and First. I tried calling Jetblue a few times and each time there is a 90 minute wait (even at midnight).

My thought process was that if for whatever reason I don't go I could use a JetBlue credit much more easily than Hawaiian Air credit.

I don't know the answer definitively, but from a quick google search it looks like you can purchase an upgrade to Comfort for $145. This was in 2018 though, so things could have changed.

Hawaiian also recently expanded to 68 from 40 the number of Extra Comfort main cabin seats, which offer a generous 36-inch pitch for extra leg room and priority boarding. Guests can upgrade to Extra Comfort seats for $145 each way.

I would try checking out cruise critic forums, they may have the answer.

Also, I believe all airlines have gone to the 24 hour cancellation policy no questions asked, so you could book it, then try to upgrade and if you cannot, cancel. Not the ideal way, but doable if you don't want to be on hold for 2 hours.

Good luck! I am with you 100%, get that extra room for the long haul flight. :thumbsup2

On the Hawaiian Air site the upgrade has now gone up to $179 per person which I am fine with.

I was actually thinking like you....to just book it on JetBlue and see if I can upgrade and then if not cancel. I have Googled my question every way possible and same articles come up but with no info I am looking for.

Thanks.

Ok, just went to book a flight I would cancel within the 24 hours and I didn't even finish the booking as it stated. "Your seat selection is not available at this time". So it wouldn't even let me book a seat at all, never mind upgrading up to extra comfort. I'll just book on Hawaiian Air and pick my extra comfort seat at the get go.

I had a similar issue when booking a Jet Blue/ American Airlines flight. When I noticed I was not able to choose seats, I called Jet Blue(waited 2 hours on hold) where I learned code-shared flights don't allow certain features. While on the phone with the Jet Blue agent, I was able to book the same flight with American Airlines and then the agent canceled my Jet Blue flight since it was less than 24 hours since I booked it.
