JetBlue extension

I'll be watching Southwest and Jet Blue to see if anything drops for President's Week from New England. In the past, Southwest has had prices drop- Labor Day weekend one year and Oct, I think, last year. I hope we can get something b/c there is no way I am paying these prices.

jetblue's prices better drop or we can't go  I will be watching that site like a hawk!

Not sure how far you're willing to drive, but have you looked at White Plains NY? That's where we're going out of and the prices were way cheaper than Bradley (BDL was coming out at over $3k for 3 tickets for our week:scared1::scared1::scared1:).

I hate to say it but I wouldn't count on it. Almost all of New England (I think all states except NH) has that week off school. Prices only drop for dates where there aren't a lot of seats sold. Prices continue to go up as seats sell. Over President's Week, seats from New England to MCO continue to sell even at rediculous prices. At least that's how it's worked historically.

Did anyone on here buy or attempt to buy the $209.00 fare on kayak yesterday? I'm just wondering if anyone was actually able to successfully buy at that price?

I didn't try b/c I never used kayak before but mostly because I have a decent JetBlue credit.
Kayak doesn't sell anything. It's a travel search engine. The site gets paid (a commission of sorts) when users click through to the actual provider site - jetBlue in this case - and complete a purchase.

I think the airlines know most schools in the northeast are out that week and are looking to soak those that travel to Florida.

I have travelled on that week for the past several years and here are some alternatives we have done, but I must say even these suggestions dont yield the massive results they used to:

1) If possible fly out of airports where the local schools dont get off on Presidents week (basically many NY and New England schools have off) so we have flown out of Allentown, Philly and Baltimore to get our WDW fix on Presidents week

2) In the past Orlando was most expensive, but places like Tampa were less so. So we have flown into Tampa. This strategy seems to totally not work anymore

3) If all you need is a Disney fix, you can fly to LA and goto Disneyland for less than flying to Florida on Presidents week. DL is really great and I recommend it.

4) Be flexible on the dates you fly. If you wait until Sun or Mon to fly down to Florida, it may be more reasonable.

5) Drive to Fla. Ugh, I hate this option.

This year will be especially challenging for me as we are taking the Disney Fantasy, so we must be there from at least Saturday to Saturday... American Airlines is around $375 round trip. I may actually have to bite the bullet on this one...

thanks I will keep my eye on white plains also! No idea how far it is from us, so I will look! I know its school vacation, last year we went same time...booked originally with 330.00 per person and ended up with a big credit because the flights dropped! Not bad at all, and we came home on Good Friday! Was hoping that easter is so early next year that the flights for our school vacation would be comparable to last year. Oh well I will keep stalking.....I know they will drop :confused3

I have not had any luck with Jet Blue, although it certainly sounds like others on this board have seen some dips in the past. I have flown the past two Presidents' Weeks out of Providence. The first I booked Southwest over Labor Day- well after flights had been released and I thought we wouldn't go as prices were too high. Well, prices dropped. We were around $300 RT for that one and prices later dropped on the flights down and I was able to move to a nonstop and get a credit. That was a Sat to Friday trip. Last year I booked when flights were released and I got two credits before the trip. That was Friday to Friday of President's Week. I will watch fares as carefully as I did in the past and hope that I am as lucky as I have been in the past. One can only hope.
