JetBlue Carry on?

We always carry on our bags. JetBlue has a limit of 26x18x12. DH's bag is those exact measurements.(he just bought this bag) Has anyone had a bag that was the exact measurements allowed and then didn't fit properly overhead? I'm just wondering what happens if it doesn't fit?

Wow - that's a generous carry-on luggage allowance! If the bag doesn't fit in the overhead it would be checked planeside and put in the luggage hold. Don't know if they consider this a "gate check" and you pick it up right at the jetway as you deplane or if it just goes to the baggage claim carousel.

Some months back JB increased the size of the carry-on that you could take on to the plane. I have not seen anyone yet taking the larger size on with them.

I know, me neither that's why I was hoping someone here has done it. We do have a whole row to ourselves plus a seat in another row, so we could put DH's bag in the compartment above the row we have giving us more room but I'm worried the door won't close!

Just realize that because you have a whole row to yourself does not mean you also have the overheads over them to yourself it does not work that way. I can't imagine what would happen if everyone brought a bag that size as a carry on, that is in fact the size of a second suitcase in a normal luggage set of three which is 30" pulman, 26" standard and 22" carry on. That is normally considered a checked bag.
I must say I am tempted to take mine that size because it means I could take one carry on and not two but I am afraid it might get gate checked and I don't want to deal with that, I already will be having my electric wheelchair gate checked.

If JetBlue allows for this size for their passengers then I would assume they also thought it out if everyone was to bring a carry on of that size, there would be enough room. They reconfigured the inside of their planes(the larger ones)to accomodate these larger carry ons and more leg room and took out some rows. When we have flown, not many people have carry ons so I have never noticed anyone with the exact size they limit. I'm just curious for those that have that size and used it as a carry on on JetBlue if the door actually closed on that over head compartment. We will also have to already gatecheck an item, our stroller. What hassel would it be/cause if we had to do that with the suitcase? I really am clueless when it comes to this.

I don't think most people read the airlines websites. The person that does and sees the measurements (26x18x12) don't realize that this is a larger bag then the "normal" carry-on.
I believe the 26x18x12 would fit in the overhead, but you would get one that size and then 2 carry-ons, not the 3 that usually fit.
The FA I spoke to said that thankfully most pax don't realize they can bring on a larger bag.

I fly Pittsburgh to the west coast alot and the plane is usually close to full (USAirways). Inevitably, the last people on have to gate check their rollaboards. The only way a 26" bag is going to fit is if you put it in sideways. If there are alot of people with that size, there's no way they will all fit.

Make sure you can lift the bag. It drives me crazy when people bring on big bags and then can't lift them or end up hitting someone.

What about the weight of this larger bag. I know that my bag that size would end up being way too heavy for me to lift up and over my head. I certainly wouldn't expect some 125 lb flight attendant to do this for me either. So for this reason I would still check my bags.
