I'm planning a DL trip for next April and have been waiting for the JetBlue's release. I can't believe the price of the flight-$800. Meanwhile, the fare for Virgin America went up from $385 to $420. I'm not sure to wait or not to wait for the price to come down from JetBlue. $800 seems absurd to me--or this is the way now with JetBlue. :crazy2:

Does Jetblue still fly from JFK to Long Beach? Long Beach is a small airport just south of LA and is wonderful to fly in/out of! Small, so security doesn't have the long lines, SO much easier to navigate the nearby roads, etc.

The highest capacity on that route is on AA, not B6 or VX, so check their prices. B6 has made some moves lately that makes me think they're running cash poor and need to raise prices until that situation is resolved, so I wouldn't count on them. AA essentially runs a shuttle service, with 13 or more flights each way per day; they also have brand new aircraft on that route, too, with very nice IFE. For a random week I picked in mid-April, they're charging $419 RT per adult on pretty much all of their flights.

My last trip to LAX was $380, and I haven't seen prices on transcons below $350 (RT) in quite a while, so $400 is about what I'd expect to pay. If you're flexible in both date and which flight you can take, you can watch and wait to see if they go down, but $420 is a price I wouldn't have trouble with.

I recently booked February Newark to John Wayne, for $173 each way, so $346 RT (all in with fees) on Southwest. I was happy because SNA is much easier for us, and Newark is closer too for us (I worry about possible storms here in NJ in February). The flights are not non-stops, but i can live with that.

$800 is just too much, for sure.

Are you flying through Texas or Chicago? I avoid Chicago at all costs during the winter...
