Hi Les, this was rumoured about 2-3 years ago and nothing came of it apart from the odd flight in winter, have you a link to some more upto date info, are they expanding the service?

They have just announced today that they will be flying from Glasgow to various destinations next year. Hopefully in the future they will include USA from Glasgow.

i watched a advert on itv northeast.
i have checked the wedsite only dates comming up are 2nd & 9th december 2010 at the moment, i think they are just testing the waters.

but £385 return is not that bad, in 2002 it was £330 return to vancouver and back

They also operated the flight last year. I wish they would get their act together and realise there is a big Florida market out there. Use then for flights to Europe and they were brill.

It must be too much of a risk for them to try getting into the Florida market, whatever happened to this story? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7256918.stm
Since then prices have doubled, airlines collapsed and seat capacity slashed. Maybe when we pull out of recession the low cost carriers will attempt it.

as an aside, flying through JFK is really terrible...
at least it was in June/ July when i flew that way...
JFK was just HORRIBLE...
and i say that as someone who has flown through JFK a zillion times, so the size of it doesn't bother me...
but it has deteriorated beyond recognition...if you have any alternatives, i would try to avoid JFK..

that said, i flew through newark in august and found it somewhat less user friendly than the last time i flew that way (many years ago)..
perhaps JFK is having a bad influence on it...

if i were choosing airports for an indirect flight, i'd go via detroit...a relatively easy airport to navigate...though it's a pretty awful place to be stuck during volcanic eruptions

but i guess one doesn't always have option to choose...

and all of that said, i'm currently scheduled to return from the states via JFK in a few weeks (i'm stuck in the states right now)....best laid plans of mice and all that...
