Could anyone tell me the difference between the water mice and jet skis? I am used to riding jet skis out on Lake Erie and I would like to know how much difference (horsepower and maneuvering) there is between the two. I
Water mice are miniature speed boats that you sit in as opposed to sitting on like jet skis. They are also nowhere near as fast as a jetski. You can fit two, albeit squeezed, in the watermouse but beware that the more weight, the slower you go.
Water Mice are fun! They have 9 hp motors on them, so if you don't have too much weight in them, they can go pretty zippy. Here is a warning, though... Never, Ever go headon into the Ferryboat's wake . My dd(3) and I were avoiding another boat and when turned quick and looked... I was heading directly into the wake of the Ferryboat (which had passed a while before). We went DOWN into the wake and THROUGH the wake . Needless to say, after we got through the wake, my dd was soaked (but laughing) and we had water up to our knees. The motor was chugging but not happy so we chugged back to the dock and had to get another boat. I thought for sure we were sinking!
I think they are only fun if you have never been on a jetski or another fast type boat. If you have then you will find them boring. My DS was 12 at the time and he thought they were pretty lame. I guess it depends on what you are used to.
They rent Sea Doo Watercraft at the Contemporary. They have a 3 cylinder engine and have 155 hp. They seat 3 and are 2002 models. I assume that is what you mean by jet ski eventhough Jet Ski is a trademark name for Kawasaki watercraft.
