Jet Blue to Long Beach airport...opinions?

We flew into Long Beach last time, and thought it was much easier than Orange County airport. So much smaller and more low key! We have always flown Alaska Airlines, but Jet Blue is $24 cheaper each way ($48 round trip)per person, and they don't charge for the first checked bag like AA does.

If you have flown Jet Blue, what was your experience with them? My husband is 6'4, so the extra leg room is very appealing!

Thanks,

Traci

We used to live in portland and jetblue is now our favorite airline and we love long beach airport! We think jetblue has the nicest people working for them. We have yet to have a bad experience and have flown with them about 12-14 times. I would choose them before all others if they are flying to our destination. Prices from PDX to LGB are usually super cheap too! My dh is 6'1'' and has always been comfy, even in their regular rows. :thumbsup2

Wow! Thanks Krissy for the great feedback! We will be flying out of Portland, and I was thrilled at the cheaper price and baggage fees being less. It's good to hear that your tall DH was comfortable and that the people are so nice. My DH was already sold when I was telling him about Jet Blue, so I think we'll give it a try. Thanks again!

I completely agree! :thumbsup2 Also, there are small tv screens on the backs of each seat, for $1 a headset you can watch tv and relax during the flight. I too, love how low key the LB airport is. Not so many people to navigate through to get from point A to point B and love the fact that we can chill outside before our flight home instead of being stuck inside the whole time.

Thanks Vanessa for more great feedback! I thought I had read about the tv screens, but wasn't sure if that was for everybody, so I didn't want to get DH too excited :rotfl: We aren't telling DD about the trip until the limo comes to pick us up for "breakfast", and then ends up at the airport! It is so hard not being able to talk to her about all of this, but I know it will be well worth it to see her reaction. She will love the tv screens, and only a $1 for the headsets, that's cool! I have decided to go with Jet Blue thanks to you guys!

You don't need to spend the $1 for a headset. Your own personal headphones work just fine.

I adore JetBlue. Too bad it doesn't fly more places from my hometown.

We :lovestruc Jet Blue & Long Beach airport!! However, we'll probably always drive to DLR from now on, but I'd have no problem flying.

I am glad to have found this post! We have purchased our tickets to fly jetblue out of Portland in October and it will be our first time with them.. I am glad to hear that everyone has had a positive experience with them!

Thanks again everyone for the feedback! It is a big purchase, and so you want to make sure you are doing the right thing.

Ruthie, looks like we will just miss each other. We are both flying out of PDX, but judging by our countdowns, you get there a week sooner than us. Have a great time and hopefully you also love Jet Blue!

We will be flying out the morning of the 18th and coming back the night of the 26th..
I hope you have a great time as well!! Looks like we live close to each other as well!!

Ruthie,we leave the 29th and come home the 5th. I live in Gresham and teach in Gresham as well. I hope you will be posting while you are there! We are staying at the BW Anaheim Inn or Desert Inn. I have reservations for both, and love the locations, but got a much better deal for Desert Inn ($551.23 for 7 nights), so we will probably end up there. I will watch for your posts!

Traci,

Just had to post here, because I live in Fairview (just to your North)- and I plan on using JetBlue to fly into Longbeach from PDX in October. I have heard really good things about them, but I've never actually tried them. (We have always driven so far, so this will be a first to fly!)

Too bad I will be missing you by a couple of weeks. I plan on going the 13-15. Will be flying down on the 12, and coming back on the 16th - staying at the HOJO. Just a mommy & son trip for my b-day (though it will actually be a week after my b-day)

Hope you have a great trip! :woohoo:

It is a small world! I am in Fairview shopping quite often, lol! Since you are traveling before me, I will be watching for your posts on how your trip went. What fun to have a mommy and son trip! This trip we have decided to surprise our DD whose b-day is on the 29th. Our plan is to take her to breakfast on her b-day, with friends, and instead of driving back home, we will have a limo pick us up. She has been wanting to ride in a limo, and I said maybe for your b-day, so she won't suspect a thing as far as the airport, until the limo pulls up at the departure area. Our friends will then take our car home. Keeping this secret for the next four plus months will be torture, but well worth it in the end. I hope you have a great time making memories with your son!

Well I am in Boring... And for our trip in october for the 8 nights for airfare and hotel we are paying just under $1100.. And thats staying at Holiday Inn Anaheim Resort

Ruthie, that is so funny that you are also so close! The school I teach at is at Palmquist/Palmblad, and my daughter goes to Good Shepherd in Boring! It sounds like you got great prices as well. We are staying 7nt/8days and are at $1100 for air and hotel. This time we are doing one day at Sea World, Pirates Dinner, WOC dinner, Mickey Halloween, and maybe Happiest Haunts tour. I am so excited, but 4 months sounds so far away! I will have to watch for your posts also before I leave!

This will be our third trip since our oldest DD and now she is 7 and we have a 1.5 year old.. We usually go down for a day to Seaworld or Lego Land.. But I think this time we are just gonna hang out at the pool and maybe check out a beach... We will also be doing WoC, a couple different character meals, Princess makeovers, Mickey Trick or Treat, and the pirates dinner.. Last trip we did the knight show which was a blast!

Ruthie, we did Medieval Times last time, and DD loved it! Hopefully the pirate dinner is just as good! People think we are crazy spending 8 days in DL, but I have to say, we enjoy not having to rush through the park and being able to take breaks. It sounds like we will be doing similar things! I can't wait!
