I was looking at Jet Blue's web site and can understand the need for ID for adults. But I was a bit confused for ID's for children. DS9 will be 10 next month and we are going the end of November to Disney. The only ID I have for him is a NY "Safe Child Card" from 2009. Is this sufficient? If so, should I get it updated?

I got NYS ID cards for my children (the ones that look exactly like drivers licenses), because I had a problem ONE time when they were very small, 2 and 3 1/2 years old.. It was a Jet Blue counter person that gave me grief because I was traveling alone..... insinuated I was stealing kids from someone. She told me I wasn't going to be able to board the plane etc, etc..... she was in a terrible cranky mood, and took it out on us.

I ALWAYS now present the ID cards when we are traveling. Why take a chance?

Then your child has 6 points of ID, which you can use to acquire passport for him.

You've got more than 5 months to do it, so when you get a chance got to DMV website, find out what you need and take care of it. I know you need birth certificate and signatures of both parents, ....... don't quite remember the details , as it was 10 years ago.

Thanks. I prnted the form out and will talk to DH about it when he gets home.

Only lap babies will have to show id in the form of a birth certificate to prove their age. All other kids are fine without it.

Actually kids under 18 do not need ID to fly. You only need ID for the airline IF the child is flying free as a lap baby or on one of the extremely rare child fares.

If they have an adult ticket they do not need any ID, none.
