We anxiously awaited the dec dates being released, then booked the very first day they came online for our Burbank - MCO - Burbank round trip.

SEVENTEEN PEOPLE.

We all just got emails saying Jet Blue has discontinued all direct service to MCO from the west coast, so we can connect thru JFK (which adds 5 hours to trip, plus a plane change) or...FIND NEW FLIGHTS!!!

Argh!!! :sad2:

Now some of you may not think that changing planes and waiting around in JFK is a big deal, but our group of 17 includes 8 children ages 7 and under.

Does anyone have any ideas for other airlines? We had gotten great fares on jet blue and the kids LOVED the idea of each having their own television.

Did this happen to any other DIS'ers?

Help??? Please?

TIA

Susy

I know the plane change is a hassle, a HUGE hassle, I try to fly direct whenever possible, and I'm only flying from Mass. That being said, DS and I flew BOS-Ft Myers on JetBlue last April, and had to change planes at JFK. The JetBlue terminal is VERY VERY easy to navigate, and not too confusing. There is a HUGE food court, room to walk around some, and I have to say, for this sheltered suburban girl, the people watching is SPECTACULAR. :rotfl: And, the kids might be ready to get out and blow off a little steam.

I'm sorry that JetBlue is cancelling the non-stops.

I also know that when Song was folded back into Delta, they were going to use the Song planes for transcontinental flights. Maybe see what Delta is offering from your area. If the plane is a 757 with only 1 class (NO 1st Class) it will probably be a former Song plane with the individual seat back TVs.

Good Luck!!!!

I have flown JetBlue through JFK and would prefer not to do so again. Every flight I took through there was at least an hour late departing and I really dislike JFK in general.

That said, almost every airline flying from the west coast to MCO will have a stop somewhere. I'd probably just stick with the JetBlue flight.

You mean non-stop, not direct.

Excuse me, yes I do--no coffee yet this morning when I posted, please excuse my semantic error.

Whatever you decide to do, I would do it quickly. I looks like this affects your trip in only a few months over peak holiday travel time? If so you might already be faced with not being able to all get seats on the same flight.

On other airlines, but some have less desirable flight times (6am return, red-eyes, etc).

I found an american flight plan that would work, leave 8am, return 1pm, but the tickets are OVER 800 EACH! Over twice what the jet blue ones are.

ARGH.

So it's pay twice as much, or take the JFK plane change/layover.

And there are no freq flier seats left, I could have booked those on AA, but it's too late in the game for that now.

TIA

Ack-- when do they stop?? I'm Jet Bluing BUR to MCO in October, and I haven't heard anything about this yet! :faint:

Edit to add: Just called Jet Blue. Service stops 11/16. Huge relief for me, but I'm sorry this is happening to you. Good luck with your flights. BTW, I'm so bummed this awesome service is ending. I just discovered it and now it's going away.
