Hi fellow Jet Blue fans. When you watch your fares to get a credit, do you feel silly calling for a credit if one leg of your trip has had an increase in price, but the other leg has gone down? For example, we paid $79 for one way, and that leg is now $89, and we paid $79 for the other way, and that price is now $59. How does Jet Blue handle something like this?

TIA

We had the same issue. We booked at $79 each way.

Our flight to MCO went down to $59 and the flight back to EWR went to $108.
They credited us $20 for each ticket (total $80) that decreased but left the $79 fare as is.

Just call them up, you won't have any problem.

Every time the fare goes down you can call and get a credit. Sometimes the fare will go down for one leg and then a few days later the other, call back and get the lower fare each time.

as mentioned, it's fine. JB doesn't deal with roundtrips, you're buying 2 one ways. if one of them goes down, claim your credit, even if the other is up. and watch prices as they fluctuate quite often.

i've probably gotten at least one credit on every round trip i've taken. on my last flight, i even called for a $5 credit.

no hassle. helps to have a trueblue account mind you (free of course).

Thanks. I called to get my credit, and the rep was nice enough to remind me to check often because if they go down again, I should call for another credit. :)

Is there any fee associated with calling and getting a credit (but not changing the flight date/time)?

Also, how long do you have to use the credit?

Thank you

No fees at all for getting the credit (they do not charge you a change fee like Delta and others do). You just call and ask and the credit goes into your True Blue account. You have a year to use the credit, and it's easy peasy to use. When you book online, it will ask you (as long as you've logged in to your True Blue account when booking) if you want to apply your credit towards your next booking. If you say "yes" the credit is automatically deducted from your total.

Thanks for the info. We are hoping to book with Jetblue BUF-Cancun (4 people) next year. Since those flights will be pricey I am trying to learn as much as I can about Jetblue.

If I have one year to use a credit, is that one year from original booking date, or one year from the date that the credit was put into my trueblue account???

Thank you

A year from the date you were issued the credit. Actually, a bit more. For example, the credit I received yesterday (3/20/07) expires on 4/18/08.

Thanks for the info. I'm so sorry, but one more ? and then I won't bother you anymore.....

for example for your credit that expires 4/18/08...do you have to book travel by that date, or HAVE TO FLY by that date?

I promise no more ?s:goodvibes

I'm really sorry. I haven't a clue on that one. We fly JB 3-4x per year and never have a problem using our credits, so I can't help you there. As a guess, I would think you would have to book by the credit expiry. Since your credit is deducted from your final payment, I wouldn't think JB would go back and charge you if you didn't fly by the credit expiration. For example, if my credit expires 4/18/08 and I book a flight for 8/15/08 on 4/17/08, I am pretty sure that JB wouldn't come to me on 4/19/08 to get the $40 credit back. But again, that's my best conjecture. Maybe someone who doesn't fly JB as much can help you better?

According to a JetBlue rep with whom I spoke several weeks ago, you have to permanently apply the credit by the expiration date (no matter how many times you've unused/reused it, don't ask, long story) but you don't have to fly by that date. Doesn't matter - this time I promise not to make any changes, JetBlue! :teeth:

on that same token, although it may not apply here, i was just awarded a free flight from JB (well, at least 2 one ways...)

i had a very long conversation with a JB CSR on the phone and she said what she advises is that since the free flights expire in a year, if a year comes and I don't have a flight, I should book a flight out as far as possible anyway. that way I can always change it and keep the credit minus the $25 change fee, which would be better than having to pay for the flight in full anyway.

so if you get more than $25 in credit about to expire, remember that.
