Just received an email from Jet Blue. They have finally gone to the 50 lb. bag weight.
51-70 Lbs. a charge of $20.
71-99 Lbs. a charge of $50.
they will not accept a bag over 99 lbs.

Actually, 50lbs/bag is a lot of stuff in one bag...Isn't it?

Yeh, you'd think so, but ....

The limit used to be 70 pounds with most airlines, not too long ago.

This is a good argument for those with very old, heavy suitcases to think about buying more modern, lightweight ones.

I just flew back from Vegas with jetBlue. When I checked my baggage, both were over 50 pounds. One was 51 pounds and one was 56 pounds and I honestly didn't think they were that heavy. I guess adding those few souveniers sent us over the top!

Anyway, I had a folded up small dufflebag in my suitcase, so I took it out and took clothes out of the 56 pound bag. It now became 51 (just like the other one), but the skycap let it go. We gave him a tip and we were off. I always carry that extra bag, just in case.

We got back from WDW about 3 weeks ago, I used one of those large rolling duffle bag type suitcases for both me and my DH, I thought for sure we'd be over the 50 lbs limit. I was shocked when the scale came in at 32 lbs.

IMO 50 lbs is alot of clothing!! : )

I got this also. So I told DH, I would pack more bags with less stuff. Then I could stuff them up when I get there with all the stuff I buy! :goodvibes

We used to ship lots of stuff home, but I just read that the shipping prices went up.

DH travels on business, and went to Japan in September. He was flying American and his bag was overweight and he was charged.

Sucks for us. We usually take JetBlue when we go on East Coast camping trips and my bags would just be under 70lbs each. Guess it's time to change my packing habits or budget extra $$$.
