Jersey Week?

I know the two days the teacher's conference is are the 10th and 11th of November, the week I am going of course!

Someone once told me it's the week that includes (or would include) election day. So, by that measure, this year would be November 5 - 12; which jibes with karma3939's dates.

Election day schedule rule: The first Tuesday following the first Monday in November.

Here's a link with future NJEA COnvention info:

http://www.njea.org/NJEAConvention/futuredates.asp

NJ week is the week that includes the NJEA convention - the schools are closed and many parents pull children out of school for the other 3 days of the week so that they can vacation for a week. Sometimes there are other days in the same week that are not school days.

Best wishes -

Ahhh.. That makes sense...

My fiance had asked me when you can tell which week is going to be Jersey Week and I told him that they just wait and see which week we're going to WDW and pick that one.. :) But your way makes much more sense.

Thanks so much for the info. I'm trying to schedule a trip with the new discount, but was trying to work around those dates.

Thanks again!!

Don't worry if you need to schedule the trip during "Jersey Week" We arrived last Nov on election day and had one of the best weeks ever! The longest wait of the week was 20 min and the average wait was 5-10 min. I would go back during JW without thinking twice!

Go for it!

I wouldn't be too concerned if I were you. There are basically two types of people who attend New Jersey Week - 1) people from NJ and, 2) those who don't know what Taylor Pork Roll and eggs mean.

(Just teasing)

My experience was a little different that yours jmclester......
We also arrived on election day. That day and the next were good. But, boy......Thurs and Fri were packed ! We were in the MK on Thurs, Nov 4 and witnessed 90 min waits for Splash, Space and BTMR ! Pooh, Peter Pan, Buzz were among the attractions with 45 min waits. We ended up leaving around 2 pm to head over to Epcot which did end up being slightly better, but still 90 min waits for Test Track and Mission Space. Friday we went to the AK. Thanks goodness we got there at opening because by noon it was so crowded we left. 90 min waits for the Safari and Dinosaur. I don't know...maybe we were in opposite parks during the week. I thought 2004 was one of the more busy NJ Weeks and we've been to 4 total ('99, '01, '02 and then last year).
I think if you plan to get up and out first thing in the morning and leave by 1-2 pm it's doable.

Whew, that's really wild. I do seem to remember TT being a long wait so we FastPassed it once but we rode Mission: Space 4 times on 2 different days and never waited longer than 5 min. We had the same experience at USF as well. Rode the Mummy 3 times with minimal wait. (Sorry, I love WDW but what an awesome ride!). We did get to the parks early, took and afternoon break and went back in the evenings. I suppose we were just in the right parks at the right times. :wizard:

Remember that there is Super Soap weekend scheduled for November 12th and 13th. Therefore when Super Soap Weekend and Jersey week overlap, the parks especially MGM are very crowded. I am not sure what year jmclester was there but last year 2004, Super Soap Weekend did not overlap to Jersey week. This year it does so be prepared for very large crowds on Friday Saturday and Sunday especially at MGM where the Super Soap fans crowd into and the hotels around there (Boardwalk, Swan, Dolphin, Beach Club etc) and they will be sold out as will non Disney area hotels. There are more Super Soap fans than you can imagine. I would avoid Jersey week if possible since it is the same weekend as Super Soap and then the next Tuesday is election day. It will be crowded from November 9 through to the 15th.

I agree...Jersey Week is an optimal time to make the most out of the Fast Pass. We got through 4 attractions in 3 hours doing FF at AK on Friday, Nov 5. Had it not been for FF, we would have left. We went to the MK later that same night and again, thank goodness for FF because Space Mountain had a 1 hour wait ! We got that FP first, then went on Buzz and Haunted Mansion and then got to practically walk on Space---maybe a 5 min wait with the FP. We felt the Jersey Week crowds Nov 4 & 5, 2004 were on par with the summer crowds we just experienced this past (early) August. Soarin' had a 2 hour stand-by wait in Aug, but with FP, we walked on in about 10 min. This is still a new attraction, so def FP this one !!!
To Jeeperwy, if you do still plan on Jersey Week this year I'd use the FP system and early arrival to the parks as your game plan. The fact that Disnutty brought the fact of Super Soap weekend to light that same week, you'll need to use everything to your advantage to avoid the longest lines.
