I've not heard of Jersey Week before. When is this? Are there special events that are planned for you to attend? Sounds fun.

It's a week in November when New Jersey teachers have off for a week (or is it almost a week??) to attend conventions, so MANY families in NJ use that week to take vacations, and many go to Disney World.

Nothing special is planned. In fact, when I came to these boards over 4 years ago I was surprised to see the term "Jersey Week". LOL

When is this so-called Jersey week. I was there last April and I guess it was Mass. and plenty of people from Boston and I being a huge Yankees fan took a ribbing all week.

Thanks I guess I was a lil slow with my ?.

Is the food & wine festival run during Jersey Week? Trying to plan that weekend to getaway 11/9-11/13/05
Thanks! ;)

This year Jersey week is anwhere between Nov. 5th to Nov. 13th. Our kids have off Nov. 8th, 10th and 11th. So, they only miss two days of school while we are in WDW. And don't forget during that time period you have Veteran's Day, F&W festival at Epcot and Soap Opera Weekend going on. Looks like it's going to be a very busy week at WDW, and we will be there!

The first time we ever went to WDW just my DH and I we went unknowingly during JerseyWeek and we loved it! It wasn't that crowded and everyone and I do mean Everyone we talked to was from New Jersey! We still laugh about it since we were from Texas but felt like honorary New Jersians (is that even a word) that week. We are trying to decide this year if we are going to go the tail end of Jersey Week or Pop Warner week....I don't think there is any time of year you can go now where there is not some group of people/convention or event going on so you should just go and enjoy who you are there with and have fun.

Wonder why we get such a bad rap anyway :confused3

It's not that you get a "bad rap," being from New Jersey, it's just the crowds generated by Jersey Week. I'll never go back that week again but that would be the same if it was "Virginia Week" or "Georgia Week"

Toyota......
Maybe you should go during Brazilian week. You will learn to appreciate New Jersey after that!

I did not think Jersey Week was crowded! In Northern VA, we get 2 school days off during that week! Being a southern girl, I like hearing the accent! :listen:

in 2000 attended Jersey Week w/ my sister and her family--I was with my DW and DS, we live in Atlanta. Were scheduled to have gone this year as well until my DNephew got sick the night beofre the trip--and our reservations being at Shades of Green through my sister, DOD, we could not have gone w/o her, and no other acceptable reservations elsehwere on the property. There are two days of NJEA convention, and one day of Election Day no school involved in Jersey week.

From what I was told, this year was more crowded at least in part because of the folks who rescheduled trips from earlier in the hurricane season.

We went during Jersey week last year and if I had not read about it on the boards I would not have known.

By the way, have you ever noticed that any group of kids that are not your own are "bratty"? I don't think anyone means any disrespect, though I could be wrong.

I have found that the best way to deal with bad behaving kids is to walk up behind them and smack them in the back of the head - when they turn around, assume the Karate Kid pose - they usually run away...

PrinceJohn,

It takes a lot to make me laugh aloud at my desk, but that one really did!
I was totally picturing it in my head as I was readiting it!
