Being a presidential election year, I think this year more schools will have the entire week off. I know we do this year. That being said I would still travel that week as opposed to summer or Christmas. The crowds are a bit higher but managable. We just run into more people from home.
We have done the DCL cruise (7 day) with added on WDW days the past 3 years and it has been a great time to travel.
Jersey Week Conventions are the 4th thru the 7th this year.
Our town doesn't get election week or day off so you are lucky.
We are going that same week! We'll be there from Oct 30 thru Nov 4 at WDW (BWV) then we're going on the DCL Wonder for the 3 night cruise too!!!
I'm not going to worry about Jersey week. THere isn't much I can do about it now. I'm hoping it will get busier when I'm on the cruise and already gone!
I think if you ask this in the Theme parks board you'll get a lot more Jersey Week experts to answer your question. I think that maybe the end of the week is busier than the beginning as the Jersey Week Conventions are the 4th thru the 7th but I'm not certain about that.
I agree with Joe. We've done Jersey week the past 2 years. Crowds are minor. Weather has been great. Really a nice time to go since the other 49 states are still in school.
We were there for "Jersey Week" in 2002 and the crowds were quite large. The buses from our resort (POFQ) were packed and the parks were packed. We now make sure we miss "Jersey Week." In 2002 everyone said you don't want to go during "Jersey Week." I thought how could school being out in New Jersey affect the crowds at WDW. Well, I found out!!
Its funny how everyone's perception of crowds is different. We did Jersey Week in 2002 and 2003 (and will be doing it in 2004). We found the crowds to be very reasonable. We never waited more than 10-15 minutes for anything we wanted to ride. There were rides that had longer standby lines but we used FastPass for those.
One thing my wife and I both commented on during those visits. Walking through the parks, it felt crowded. There seemed to be a lot of people around. But the rides had short waits and the restaurants were not particularly busy.
Of course, I don't want to encourage anyone to go that week and make it more crowded for us but if that's the week you've got free, don't be scared off by us Jersey folks.
We did Jersey week at WDW in 2000 and loved it. We did not know at the time it was Jersey week and we are from Jersey!! The crowds were light and the weather was fantastic. We are again going "Jersey" week Oct 30-Nov 6 at WL and we just cannot wait!!
*When we were at Hoop De Doo and the CM asked us where we were from and we said New Jersey, he said "Everyone here is from NJ" and kept walking to other tables until he found someone who was NOT from NJ. This time I may same we are from some exotic island!!
