Jersey Week

Nov. 9-11 is the official dates, I heard, though of course some families may arrive early and/or stay late, more likely early since they also have that Tuesday out of school.

We are heading down for the Jersey Week festivities this year! The week begin roughly on Saturday November 4, and lasts to Sunday November 12th. :) The busiest days will be the Thurs-Fri-Sat (Nov 9, 10, 11th). The beginning of the week is not so bad. The week can be very busy around the weekend since many kids from ALL states have days off from school that week, especially a long weekend for Veteran's Day. Hope this helps! :)

this might be a stupid question.... but what is jersery week?

Jersey Week is a certain week in November, when Disney celebrates all things about New Jersey! It's a really nice thing to do for our small state! Many people from New Jersey come for the festivities. I hear Bon Jovi is playing at the American Adventure at Epcot for free! And there will be kiosks all over World Showcase with famous Jersey foods. MGM will have famous Jerseyans out signing autographs, people like Bruce Springstein, I hear! And at Animal Kingdom, they are bringing all sorts of New Jersey wildlife to see, like pigeons and white tailed deer. It will be great! :)

You know I was kidding, right??? :teeth: I think my answer is much more fun than the actual truth! It's actually a mis-named week when many people from New Jersey go to Disney, since schools are closed for a teacher's convention which no teachers ever actually attend. Many other states have days off that week too, so it isn't just Jerseyans there filling the parks. The parks are far busier than the weeks around it. We're going this year - can't wait! :)

Just for the record, there are no "stupid" questions...and for another thing, for years I thought that Jersey week meant that people wore their favorite team uniforms. :rotfl2: I kid you not!!! :rotfl:

<--- DON'T TEASE THE BON JOVI FAN!!!!!!! :dance3: :lmao:

okay, seriously, jersey week brings a lot of people from the New Jersey area for a teacher's conference. In addition, many schools in that part of the east coast have election day off, as well as a longer than normal Veteran's day holiday, so crowds are a little bigger.

Edit: Or Hugs can edit as I'm typing and say it just as well! :rotfl2:

Sorry about the Bon Jovi reference!! Couldn't resist!! :teeth: :rotfl2:

Actually the conference is in Atlantic City, NJ! But the schools in NJ must close for those two days (thurs Nov 9 and Friday Nov 10) so lots of us head to Disney, since the kids don't miss much school. And I don't know anyone who actually goes to this teacher's convention, since all teachers I know head to Disney, too! :)

Aha! I'm sorry, I thought the conference was held at WDW itself since all the teachers were there! :rotfl: Thanks for correcting me!

Thats exaclty what i thought and got excitied!!! We are huge SABRES fans and thought it was a week to show off ALL our sabres jerserys!! :rotfl2:

Truth be told...

I think you will find more teachers in WDW then in AC.

Our trip ends Monday Nov 6-- so all the Jerseyites are welcome---after that!!!

We are going the last week of October. NJ will be empty when we get back with everyone going to WDW for teachers convention.

Big decision for the teachers--get paid to sit in on conferences all day or jet off to Florida. I already know my sister's decision, Coronado Springs!
