How "bad" is Jersey week in Disney? Is it crowded? We definitely don't HAVE to go that week but looking at our calendar it looks like the best week to go for us.

We will be staying at POR this year!

I'm bumping this because I'm surprised nobody answered her and I'm wondering the same thing! :goodvibes

We are driving down from NJ late on the 1st and driving back early on the 12th, so we will be there over Jersey week.

First off, discounts are available. AAA members get an automatic discount if you book thru them, but I got an email and mailed pin code for that time period for 10, 15, 20% packages. We are doing POFQ so we got the 15% off and WDW allowed AAA to stack their discount on top and gave us a free upgrade to a King Room.

Will there be free dining? Who knows, but they aren't leaving out that week with pins.

As to crowds. I don't know, I'm sure it will be more crowded than usual, but I'm not too worried about it. We did President's week which was predicted to be be horrible and we walked on pretty much everything and rarely needed fastpasses. I've heard this week is equivalent in crowds.

I was there in 2011 for Jersey week and it wasn't bad at all. Alot of people were complaining, but I've been there spring break week and jersey week was not bad compared to that. We waited about 5-10 minutes for rides. The worst part was our hotel.I think everyone stayed at Pop Century for Jersey week. If you stay away from that hotel, you should be fine!

I have gone several times during Jersey week. It's not bad at all.

We've gone that week for the past 4 years and it just has depended on what else is going on. We've always had a discount for our stay. Free Dining twice, and 40% off room twice.

The one year it was the same weekend as the golf tournament and it was a little busy. Last year was complete madness as it was also Veteran's Day weekend, lots of weddings and conventions, and the last weekend of Food and Wine/First week of Xmas. Previous years we really enjoyed the slow time. Take advantage of your weekdays!

I didnt find the crowds to be too bad .... but some of the families we came across were pretty obnoxious .... (I'm not saying that all people from NJ are that way) 2 different families were extremely loud and inconsiderate in the CL lounge at YC when we were there.(They were definitely from jersey too ... everyone couldn't help but hear their coversations about anything and everthing ...lol)

We have been to WDW during Jersey week and the only thing that gave it away were all the cars in the parking lot. We didn't find the crowds too large at all in any of the parks during that week.

Uh oh - we're going Nov 3-10 and staying at POP. Should we be worried??? :rotfl:

We were down last November during "Jersey Week" it was not crowded AT ALL and they did have discounts for that week as well. You could get free dining plan or % off the room.

what is jersey week and why?

It's called "Jersey week" because there tends to be a large increase in visitors from NJ during the week of NJ teacher conventions. Every November (the 1st/2nd week) there is a HUGE NJ Teachers Convention in Atlantic City, teachers are encouraged but not obligated to attend and to make it possible for teachers to attend the convention the kids in NJ typically get 2 days off from school (Thursday and Friday). Many parents will either go to Disney for either a long weekend or take the kids out of school for the remaining 3 days and have a full week vacation without the kids missing a full week of school.

We have gone a few times during "Jersey week" and actually prefer that time of year. We never felt the parks to be overly crowded, the weather has been nice and we have had discounts from free dining to RO discounts.

As my sig. states. My last 2 trips were both during Jersey Week. And yes, both were for thr Free Dining. We stayed both times at Mods. So we got more than the QSDP. All you need to do is make sure you check in on or b-4 the last day that the FD is offered , and it will be good for the whole lentgh of your trip.

Ex. We let the kids go to school on the thursday b-4 Election day & b-4 Teachers convention . I also work this day so I don't waste another vacation day. We catch a 6 or 7 pm flight get to resort by roughly 11:00 or so. We check in. Now even though theres only an hour left on this thursday, as long as I check in I get the free dining. If I checked in Friday afternoon sometime. I would lose out on the 9 nights of FD. I did this both times. 2010 & 2011, checking in on the last night of FD. Also I had 2 pins for 30% OFF. AAA also has % off too. So Keep your fingers crossed Theres always something avail.

This is exactly what weare hoping for and why we haven't booked our flight yet. Right now we're planning to go Nov 2-10, but if arriving at night one day earlier will give us FD, it would definitely be worth it! I am happy to say that we got 35% off the rooms, so if we don't get the FD at least we got something. But fingers still crossed for FD!!!
