Jersey Week 2010

Hi all, as a New Jersey DVC member I was wondering which week most of you will be going down this year. My kids dont have election day with the teacher convention this year (funny calendar), so I was wondering when to expect all my fellow Jersey friends to be down.

Ohh and by the way the show "Jersey Shore" truly is nothing like it really is. I know that cuz Im from there and we dont act / talk like that

We are going 10/29 thru 11/6 this year. It seems so far away.

And yes, I am originally from the Jersey shore and we dont act / talk like the "Jersey Shore" cast...as a matter of fact, I havent seen anybody look or talk like them since the 80's AND none of them are from Jersey anyway..

WE won't be there this NJ week, but I did want to make a comment on Jersey Shore. Unfortunately what people don't realize is that the people on Jersey Shore AREN'T from NJ. They're all from NY and are bennies. They rented a house for the summer.... That's why us regular Jersey shorers, HATE bennies, now the world knows why... I wish they'd let people know they aren't NJ residents!!!!!!!

OK, I grew up in North Wildwood and I have no idea what a bennie is!! We called tourists shoebies....is that the same thing?? and yes, we despised the shoebies - some of them thought they owned the island.

OP - why don't your kids have election day off on election day? it is the same week as the convention this year and you can't move election day. maybe i misread?

I dont know about the OP but for myself, my oldest son is a freshman in high school - he doesnt have off for election day but my youngest in middle school does...go figure!!

Any chance they may only be using the elem/middle school for a polling place & not the high school?

that is kind of strange .... this may sound dumb, but are the two schools in the same district? i ask because if they are they *should* follow the same calendar, but sometimes high schools are not in the same district as the elementary or middle schools. for example where i grew up (in NJ) the elementary school is one district, but the middle school and high school are a regional school district with a neighboring district. so the two often have different schedules.

i thought the OP was saying that election day did not fall in the same week as the convention for 2010, or that they had a different day off for election day. now the GREAT calendar is when Veteran's Day falls on the monday after the election day/convention week! As a teacher that is the november i live for!!!!

Sadly we will not be there this year ... ok not so sadly we are going in May and then in December. But enjoy to those of you ging then. My favorite time!!

for some reason there is no election day in the calendar this year. It may have something to do with no gov or pres election this year but we dont have it
