We drive down from NJ every year, usually straight through. This year we were thinking of staying at a hotel along the way for one night. For those of you that do that, where do you stop? We would like to complete most of the trip on day one and just have a few hours (3-6) to go on day 2. Thanks!!

When I say the title I expected the pose to say somthing like "are jerks" But in a more expletive manner.

I read a post where somone was coming down I95 and suggested Savannah.

haha! Thanks

We have been driving for the past 8 years. We usually drive straight through, but a few times have stopped in South Carolina. But then it is still another 8-9 hr driver to disney. We are actually thinking of flying this year for the first time. With 4 kids its usually too expensive to fly, but we will see.

We are actually trying to decide between driving & stopping or flying. Nobody can stand to sit in a car for that long to drive straight this year, I don't know why! Flying is the easy option, but we've gotten so used to packing the car with everything we want & driving ourselves to the parks instead of using Disney transport. I have my Southwest "DING" setup so if we see a rate we can't pass up, we'll fly. Most likely though, we'll drive & stop.

We drive from NC, and when we can't leave early enough and have to spend the night, we have been stopping at the Savannah exits. From @ the SC/GA line on I-95, it's 300 miles to WDW. That may fit your range for driving in the next day, and there are a lot of hotel options there, especially off of exit 104 (airport exit).

We drive from Philly, and usually stop since we only have a single driver. If we leave the afternoon/evening before our arrival day we usually stop around midnight somewhere in NC where the motels are cheap. If we're able to get in the car very early (five or thereabouts) we'll go straight through to Savannah or St. Augustine, and have a shortish hop the next day. These departure times are designed to get us through Washington, D.C. either before or after most of the traffic.

Years ago we used to drive straight through from North Jersey to DH's relatives in Charleston, and definitely felt we could make Savannah without issues, even with a single driver.

Check out the most recent posts on the "For 2,000+ Mile Round-Trip Drivers Only!" thread. This site caters to New Jersey drivers...or any other folks who live 1,000 miles away from WDW!

All the best.

Hi,
We are transplanted NJers, moved to PA. Still get the "Jersey Drivers" harrassment from those who know we are from Jowysey !:rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Anyway, driving down many times from NJ, and from PA. The Savanna exits in Georgia looks to be the most popular option, I have been reading. Agree with the exit 104 hotels. We booked a Springhill Suites (by Marriott), at exit 104 Savanna for $79. night. Includes wifi, and breakfast. Its also a "suite" hotel, with 2 queen beds and a living room with a pull out sofabed. Easy on/off from exit 104, lots of restaurants, and looks like a safe area I have heard.
We are driving down, planning on spending the night in Savanna, then only a few (4?) more hours to WDW the next morning.

We stayed at the Springhill suites in Savannah last year off of exit 94. We are planning on staying there again in Dec when we drive down. It was really clean and the staff was friendly. It was walking distance to a few restaurants and there is a mall not too far away, in case you have kids who grow 4 inches and 2 pant sizes 3 weeks before your trip and none of their shorts fit and you can't find any in the whole state of NJ. LOL There is a few hotels right off of that exit to pick from. We chose the Springhill suites because it sleeps our family of 5 in one room. We also stayed in teh Hampton inn that is there and their rooms are really nice but we need to get the larger room which is more $$ then Springhill.

We are from Northern New Jersey! We always drive down! We stop down in Savannah at the Holiday Inn Express! It is a great stop and by lots of restaurants we leave at like 4 am and get there by 6 or 7 pm. Its about a four hour drive to Disney :)
