Large tripods are prohibited, so it depends how big it was when collapsed. Here's the rule.

• Tripod stands or monopod stands that cannot fit inside a standard backpack

My old tripod was really big when fully opened and set up. People were amazed that it squeezed down to fit into my regular size backpack. One fellow standing next to me watched me put it away after Wishes. He said he was sure it wasn't going to get down that small. LOL

I sure miss that tripod - I was sad when it broke.
I've not found one I've liked as much so I haven't bothered with a tripod in the parks anymore.

I know, I see them too, but not near as many as there was. And you can always ask a CM to intervene, if they don't see it first.

If they are found they are. But it's not hard to keep them in your pocket or if a bag is so full they just miss it. Some are better/more thorough, than others.

I might catch heat for this, but handicap spot viewing should be open to everyone as soon as the show starts. You make it all available for the handicapped people who need special viewing and their immediate friends/family. However if there's open space as the show starts, than there's no reason not to open it up for everyone.

I can appreciate your obvious frustration, but calling the person a Jerk... not so much.
If it's not a tripod, it's a scooter zooming over ur flip flop, or a stroller ramming the back of ur leg, or a noxious Odor from the person next to you, or a parent who decides to place their child on their shoulders blocking your view, or having to dodge an Umbrella or a myriad of other frustrating, annoying and Yes, rude happenings while at Disney, lol.

Just part of the experience I suppose, but if you felt it was Wrong, why not grab a CM and let them handle it .. so you can get back to ur Disney Visit?

So a tripod with a camera blocked your view? It's no bigger than a person, how did it block "the view of everyone else"? Was he there before you were? Was there anywhere else in the area you (or he) could have gone that would not have impaired the view?

His wife informed everyone..they were there first. Set up in front of wheel chairs and stood sideways blocking the view. Chairs are positioned on the rail at an angle. Didn't appear that anyone in there party was in a chair.

Yes, he could've set up behind the wheel chairs or at the end. He was the ONLY person standing in front. Other guests sat down or stood behind those seated in chairs. No, there wasn't another option. I wanted to see the show, not someone's backside. It's why they have a handicap viewing area.

Non-extendable sticks are allowed. It's just the extendable ones that are banned. So if you're seeing short sticks, those are ok.

FWIW, there are now actually very few selfie sticks in the parks. In my last two visits, I didn't notice any actually (though I wasn't looking for them either). It was only at Disney Springs that I saw any being used, so if people are still sneaking them into the parks it wasn't to the point where they were annoying or even grabbed my attention.

I think back to the days before Disney announced the ban, during a visit to a park. The sticks were absolutely everywhere, bumping into people, blocking walking paths. The last straw in my patience was on the Haunted Mansion when a stick appeared around the corner of my doom buggy, then over the top, to catch a sweeping aerial view of the ride. It was absolutely awful.

Well, since it was already set up couldn't you pick a different spot. Some people don't think. I don't think I'm the smartest person but I have seen some people that I just have to shake my head. I love the T-shirt one man at SeaWorld was wearing "You can't fix dumb"

I was in the H/A section at DCA and was sitting (since I wasn't feeling well the CM said I could sit there after having been evacuated from the park earlier by ambulance from a smoker smoking in a non-DSA, and my mom was in a scooter). Just before the show started a lady with a bad knee came in and sat right in front of me and then filmed Color Your World with her iPad above her head. She was in the front row. Not sure why she had to have the iPad so high. I could barely see a thing. When I film I keep my camcorder close to my body and try my best not to block anyone behind me and also keep the viewfinder at an angle it's not bothering anyone. For our birthday (my sisters and I have birthdays within a month or so) our parents gave us tickets to see CATS. A parent let their child have a phone and he was playing games on it. Little did they know that the glare from the screen was ruining our view of the show.

Spaces are limited isn'that area and the way he was set up...the standing man and camera blocked more than a few spots. Like I said earlier, he was the ONLY one standing on the rail in the front. He was the only "special, privileged one " in the handicap section.

I'm not actually sure on the rules of the handicapped section? Is it wheelchairs only or does it include all different disabilities? Just out of curiosity
