Does anyone here use either one of these programs? I am thinking about trying one of these programs. Do they offer loks of different kinds of foods? Is it very resrtictive? I ws just wondering what your experiences with either one has been?

How funny that you just posted this but I just posted on your atkins thread about WW. ;)

I have done the WW program for 2 years now and I absolutely love it. I tried atkins but I was an atkins failure... WW is a slow and steady weight loss plan but it stays off.

I can eat anything I want I just limit the portions. If I feel deprived I can't make a lifestyle change and that is what I want. :cheer2:

Good Luck on your decision.

I don't know a thing about Jenny Craig, but I love, love, love WW's! I have done it on and off for the past year trying to lose the baby weight from my son. I am 3 pounds away from being pre-pregnancy & pre-wedding. I put on about 70 pounds with both of my kids so it has taken me a while to get it off.

I tried watching what I was eating, but that was a total disaster. I tried Atkins, but ended up caving after a week on a pb&j sandwich. I think that doing Atkins and having toddlers just don't mix.

With WW's I can eat whatever I what just as long as I stay on points. The key to WW's is making sure that you journal everything you eat and staying committed.

Good Luck!

I did the Jenny Craig program during college (6/95 - 11/96 in particular). I can't really recommend it. I did lose around 60 pounds, but I didn't really learn how to keep it off, and I gained all the lost weight (and eventually another 50) once I went off the program. The food was quite expensive (around $70 a week, and had to be supplemented with dairy, produce, etc.) and honestly not very good - some options were downright nasty. Maybe they've improved over the past 10 years?

Now, being on a diet during college was hard enough - I lived on campus (as did most students), and the dining hall was a major social center, so having to eat my meager JC meals alone in my dorm was not a great situation. And I didn't really go into the program with the right mindset, as my mom pushed me to do it (and paid for it), rather than choosing to truly commit to it on my own. But I feel like it was definitely not the right program for me, because by sticking with the prepackaged JC foods all the time, I didn't really learn how to eat in the real world. I wasn't able to make a true lifestyle change, because I knew I wouldn't be eating JC food for the rest of my life.

Anyway, that's my experience with Jenny Craig. I'm sure there are success stories out there as well. Good luck finding the perfect choice for you!

I've done both Jenny Craig and WW (currently I do South Beach, which I love). I would definitely pick WW over JC anyday! As the previous poster mentioned, Jenny is very expensive. I paid for one of those lifetime memberships (close to $400) and still had to buy food everyday which was about $100 per week and still feed my family. I lost anywhere from 1/2 pound to 1-1/2 pounds per week. Needing to lose 100+pounds would have bankrupt my family on this program! I always felt hungry and irritable and don't recall feeling that way on WW. I had some success with WW and liked the flexibility of the plan and the team spirit at the meetings.

So those are my experiences with both programs. I hope that helps you out.

I don't know anything about Jenny Craig, but I love WW's. Its not restrictive, its easy to do and works great!

I have been on Weight Watchers for just over a year now and I love it. I have lost 60 pounds! IMO, it's better than Jenny Craig because w/that program, you have to eat their food and it can get very expensive, and I've heard their food isn't that great. And Atkin's I tried for a while before, but I just can't see how it is any good for your heart, all that meat, and I don't think it works over the long haul.IMO. With WW, I can eat what I want as long as I'm accountable for it!

I am going to give my 2 cents again but I think WW teaches you how to eat in real life with real food without giving up any food groups there isn't many plans out there that do that.

You can also join online if you don't want to go to meetings.

First off you daughter is beautiful love that dress.

WW is really open on food you eat normal everyday foods(though they do have some frozen foods. The eclairs are a fav of mine) and that is why I liked it. I just can't afford the meeting cost. I'm hoping soon to afford the monthly online fee to journal online.

I loved eating normal foods. Portion control is used you are supposed to measure foods.

I love 40 lbs in 20 weeks when I did it. I'm trying to work that lifestyle back in but right now exercise is my priority. :)

My MIL and her friend do jenny craig. They spend A LOT on food. Its epensive and she isn't getting anywhere last i checked she is getting fitter since she was working out at their community gym. But said scale wasn't budging though we could tell in her clothes she was losing.

Thank you all for yor responses. I think I am going to give WW a try. I thought about doing WW before I started Atkins but my dh was doing Atkins so I thought I would do it too. But I just don't think it's for me. I'm going to try and find a local WW meeting and get started.
