Jen Freeman - Extreme Couponing

I got an invitation to an Extreme Couponing class (free tickets) featuring Jen Freeman & her extreme Couponing

Has anyone ever attended such an event? Is it worth it. I used to do great with coupons & just ads in general, but I don't spend time to do it now.

The event is hosted by our local newspaper.

Thoughts? Ideas? Experiences?

I'm really curious to know if you went, and did you learn any sweet tips? I can't imagine being able to collect as many coupons that the show uses.

Well, it really did not work out very well. The basic premise was that you get 5 Sun only newspapers delivered & they show you how to use their (free) website to match the coupons up with great sales and you only need to actually cut out the coupons as needed. So basically, you file away each batch of Sunday coupons until a great deal pops up & then you got get your coupons.

The event was sponsored by the newspapers - obviously to sell newspapers . They did have a "special offer" for 5 papers for 20 weeks for $95. AND you would get $50 in Safeway gift cards to help offset the cost. Seemed like it would be worth a try at least. Everything was super organized & easy to follow.

However, before the first weeks batch of newspapers were delivered the newspaper cancelled our subscriptions & said they would not deliver multiple papers to the same house . Super odd because they sponsored the event and it was held in their building!

Good news was - we all got our $95 back & got to keep our Safeway GCs, so it was not a complete waste of time I guess.

Did you call and ask they WHY they said you could at the event and then said you couldn't later?

That is just really, really bizarre.

Yeah - quite a few if us called. We never did really get an explanation.

Hmm, couponmom dot com matches the coupons with the ads...so if you want to try that with the one paper you have. Odd that they would cancel their own promotion.

Very strange they cancelled but they taught you the same coupon filing I use. I hate to clip every single coupon, file then in binder, then take out expired once a month. Filing by weeks in file cabinet works much better for me.

As for multiple papers our local Walgreens sells the paper with the best coupons for $1 each on Sunday. I buy 4 every Sunday that has coupons. When I lived in MD the Dollar Trees sold Baltimore Sun for $1. They had all the good coupons too.
