Jellyrolls - worth it?

My husband and I love to go to Jellyrolls when we stay overnight in the area (which is not much, sadly) We enjoy the interactions between the "duelers" and we always try to stay for at least one full set per pair (the pairs switch off every hour). We're not drinkers, so can't really speak about the prices... but hey... free popcorn! :-p I have tried the big drink in the red cup... that wasn't too too steep.

My husband who is a professional musician says that he enjoys the vast knowledge of the players and their "musicality" and they definitely play a wide variety of selections!! my personal favorite is their medley that covers the magic kingdom.... from "it's a great big beautiful tomorrrow" to "yo ho yo ho!"

So, does anyone have an opinion on whether Jellyrolls is worth the time and money? We are only at WDW 3 nights in January. I really enjoyed my dueling pianos experience in Vegas, but frankly, the cover charge for Jellyrolls is scaring me off a bit.

totally worth the money spent in my opinion. However, being from NY, I didn't think the cover charge was bad at all. You're on vacation, splurge, have fun and don't give the cover charge a second thought. Those guys are hilarious and talented!

I have been probably 10+ times since 2007 (to jellyrolls, more times to wdw) and have never had to lay a cover...my dh has had to pay it twice but we go during the off seasons so that may have a lot to do with it. We've also enjoyed the Atlantic Dance Club right next to ut.

Maybe I'm too young here, but I've paid $50 to get in bars in Atlantic City, and $30 here in Boston. $12 doesn't seem bad at all!

Haha was thinking the same! Also from the north east! ;)

We have been DVC members at BWV for 15 years!!!! We never once went to Jellyrolls. Until I got dragged there 3 trips ago!!! Now I INSIST on going at least once a trip! It's a blast. I thought it would only be fun if you brought along your own group of friends....Boy, was I wrong!! On our last trip DH and I went to Jellyrolls by ourselves. Within minutes we were making friends....singing.....having a great time!!!
:cool1: Do it.....you'll have fun!

Yes, you should go!
Be forewarned (some have already said): drink prices are HIGH and cups are small, it tends to be very cold in there, it is much smaller than you would think and there are not that many chairs--arrive early, especially on a weekend night to secure a seat, there is NOTHING to eat except popcorn and the ice in your drink.

I have been to Jellyrolls too many times to count and never had a bad time. The piano players are extremely talented and worth every penny of the cover charge!!

Going again in 2.5 weeks - can't wait!!!! :cool1:

I know I am in the minority but we really weren't fans. Maybe it was just an off-night in terms of the crowd?

I have been going to WDW 2-3 every year for the last 12 years and I am sad when we take young ones, and cannot make it to our beloved Jellyrolls. I started going there about 10 years ago and I am hooked! In fact my last trip in August with my BFF we went 3 times! It was a great time, and is different every night!

My suggestion is to go early, get a good table and the guys will have really good interaction with you. It really starts filling up after Illuminations. Have fun!

We didn't make it to Jellyrolls, at least partially because we only had four and a half days. That said, with the admonition to get there early, doesn't Jellyrolls take a major chunk out of a day? That would be an issue for us unless we can stay significantly longer than we did, no matter how great the place was.

Just for full disclosure, we have a fairly lively nightlife scene here in Austin, and we've never been to any of those venues either. Mostly due to the noise levels, the crowding, and the age difference between us and the clientele. I'm willing, but what could I say about Jellyrolls (to Mrs. Tex) to convince her to give it a shot?

Deaver Tex...I am probably wrong, but I think they open the doors at 7:30ish and the first "duelers" start playing at 8...the next set of "duelers" comes on at 9 and they play for 1 hour sets until 2am.....I am sure I will be corrected because I may have had an adult tasty beverage or two while there....:rotfl2:

The weird thing about Jellyrolls is that my dad maintains that the one time he went their with friends was one of the most fun experiences he's had at WDW. But anytime we were in the area at the right time of night, he discouraged us from going in and seeing it for ourselves. So, there's that. I wonder if there wasn't a cover charge the time he went? :confused3

Close! The doors open at 7. Players start at 8 and switch every hour.

I've always wanted to try it! Hopefully we'll be able to go in January, but we have a little problem :lmao:.

Our party is 3 adults (me, DFiancee and her DMom) and 1 teen (her 16yo DBrother).

What can he do on the Boardwalk while the rest of us go in for at least an hour (9h30 to 10h30 probably after we leave HS on EMH)? :confused3

We don't want to leave him just standing there alone while we go see some nice dueling pianos! :rotfl:

Mike I was thinking the exact same thing. $12 is a cheap cover compared to Boston, Providence or New York. Plus, I don't remember drinks at Jellyrolls being outrageously priced. At clubs in my area specialty cocktails start at about $10 a piece. I love Jellyrolls and can't wait to go back next month.

I love JellyRolls!!! I often go to WDW solo and I go there in the evening at least once every trip. I always have great and safe time. I have never made the paid requests for songs--I always enjoy listen to other people spend their money, LOL.

Absolutely! Love that quote! pixiedust:

I've been quite a few times and its always been a blast. Only once did the crowd seem a little "off" to me, but the group I was with was experiencing it for the first time and they absolutely loved it. If you enjoy music, especially songs from artists like Billy Joel and the like, then you'll definitely love this place. The cover isn't that bad, I always try the drink special in the giant red cup, it's not too crazily priced and you get a lot in the cup. I went to celebrate my wedding and was pulled on stage while the entire place sang to me, my mom was pulled up on stage for her birthday, they do a lot of fun crowd engaging things. It's always a blast!!!!

I have only been once and while I had a good time, it is not a "must do" for me. I also think it would be more fun going with a small group.
