DH: 27 and slowly becoming a Disney lover
Me: 28 Loves all things Disney!!

Day 4 Monday 9/08/03: MGM and Epcot

Awoke to another beautiful day, and DH is actually on the mend. He said that he slept all night and feels a lot better, even though his throat still feels swollen. He decides he wants to head out and explore today, so we get ready and decide to grab breakfast at the Boardwalk Bakery. There was only one other person ahead of us, and since it was 8:30am, that was surprising. We each ordered a coffee cake and juice and sat outside. Made some nice friends with these little birds – they loved the crumbs that fell. While we were eating, the crowd came, so we must have arrived at a good time. The cake was so big that we decided to save what was left and stick it in my bag for another morning.

We are going to MGM first today, so we grab the boat to MGM – not a lot of people on this morning. Our favorite ride, Rock N Rollercoaster is on rehab this week, so we won’t be spending a lot of time at MGM this year. We head to the Great Movie Ride, and enjoy that, even though DH didn’t think it was updated enough. I told him they can only do so much!! We then walk right into Muppets and are able to choose any seat – the theater isn’t even half full. We then decide to see what the wait is for Little Mermaid – I haven’t seen it in years, and really wanted to see it. It was 30 minutes, so I tell DH we can bypass it and come back another day. I decide I’d like to ride TOT while we are here, and DH waits for me – he didn’t wait very long, only about 15 minutes total. I just love this ride!!

It is now around 11:30am, and we decide to head to Epcot, as we would like to eat at Le Cellier today – at least DH wants to TRY to eat there. We take the boat from MGM to Epcot, and are soon walking towards Test Track. The monitors weren’t working again, and the ride stopped only once, but we were able to finish and enjoyed it! I then decide to ride Mission: Space again, but this time I am without Bonine, so I am a little nervous as to how I will react. This time, I approach the attendant for a ticket for the singles line, and am soon ushered in to take my position in the shuttle. This time, I am the Engineer – and not one felling of sickness after riding. I just love this ride – it is becoming a favorite of mine! I find DH playing around with the games – he really likes the one where the astronaut has to find his companions. We decide to send one of the e-mail postcards from there and choose the one where it looks like we are outside of the shuttle – at least that is what it looked like to me. It was hilarious.

We are starving about now, so we head to Le Cellier – no PS for this. I had made PS all week, but since DH was sick, those went out the window along with our plans on what to do on what day. Since the crowds were low, I figured we wouldn’t have a problem, and I was right. We were seated right away at about 12:45pm and we immediately ordered drinks – iced tea for me and water for DH. I then ordered some of the Cheddar Cheese soup, which I love. We split the pretzel bread and dip it in my soup – I told DH he should get a bowl if we eat here again.
For lunch we both ordered the Grilled Steak Burger with cheddar, but I added mushrooms to mine. DH decides to have the potato salad with his instead of fries as he thinks he will be able to eat it easier. Eating for him is still a chore, but he is doing better, but he did not like the potato dish. I just love their food at Le Cellier, and we are soon stuffed and leave around 1:45pm. We decide to take a look around World Showcase, and walk and start at Mexico. We rode the boat rides in Mexico and Norway – we had never done the Norway ride, and it was cute. Liked the trolls!! We went through the many shops, and I purchased my favorite Gummi Bears and Gummi Cherry’s in Germany – I just love them!! We walk into Japan, and DH makes the remark “What, no bonsai tree this year?”. I bought a bonsai tree last year from the shop in Japan, and babied that little thing for over 6 months. I took it everywhere – since it had to be watered daily, I had to take it with me when we went out of town. I left it at my in-laws over Christmas, and the poor thing was maybe watered a couple of times. It was such a busy time of year, I just completely forgot. Needless to say, no amount of love could save it and I had to put it to rest. I loved it, I think they are so pretty, but I decide to bypass buying another one this year. It is around 3:30pm, and we decide to grab an ice cream in France – it is very good. DH is ready for a rest, so we head back to the room. I just love how we can walk to our room and are there in minutes!

We rest for a couple of hours, and DH decides he wants to eat at Olive Garden – the food will be soft and should be easier on his throat. We head out in search of an Olive Garden and locate one right away not even 2 minutes from DTD. We are seated right away, which surprises me since it is around 7:30pm when we arrive. Usually they are packed, at least in my town they are! We each order Fettuccine Alfredo, and I opt for the salad, while DH passes this time. He does eat the breadsticks and is happy to have an easy meal to eat today. Our server was less than attentive, and it kind of made DH mad, but in a funny way. All we could do was laugh, and the server must have thought we were nuts. For awhile there, we had the dining room we were seated in to ourselves – so we were a little crazy until a couple of couples joined the room.

Since we are stuffed, we are ready to head back and relax. We try to eat more of our sundae’s left over from the night before, but they are so hard it is almost impossible. We manage to eat a bit, and then are off to bed. My feet are killing me, and I am trying everything to help them. DH tells me to wear double socks and see how that works, and we would go from there.

Tomorrow – AKL and Magic Kingdom!

Your trips are bringing back fond memories of the trip I took in '92 with my husband. I was 24 and he was 31 and we had such a great time. We laughed like crazy at times and even (this is weird) slept in our own beds at times at Dixie Landings because they were so comfortable and we were able to stretttttcccchhhh out!! We've been back 4 more times with our son and my Mom, but nothing compares to that first time when we were newly married!!!

Wonderful reports ~ Thanx for sharing.
