:hippie: I was doing a little navel-gazing this weekend--my 50th birthday is coming up soon--and I thought, "if money was no object what would I do?" hmm, ponder, ponder...I know! I'd end my 20yr mini-van tradition and get a Jeep! :rotfl: My DH is indulging me in my fantasy, but here's the thing--I have always wanted a Jeep and all of a sudden i can afford one. Scary, huh? Big fat old lady in a red Jeep :drive:

So tell me, all you Jeep freaks...what's it really like? Am I off my rocker?

Do it!!! We are a Jeep family and are on our 4th one. Every time we say we are going to keep "this one" forever, we get a newer one.

I think it would be great fun for you!

Tracy

Are they ex*****ve to operate(gas, tires)? How are they for commuting? I think it would be lovely to take the top off and go cruising on the weekends.

Did i misspell e-x-p-e-n-s-i-v-e :confused3

First of all I like jeeps because of their offroad capabilities. There is nothing like using your jeep for what it was made for. Going up a steep hill, over a rock,or going through a mud hole. I just love it.(Only use land where you have permission and remember to "tread lightly.")
The Jeep tj wrangler is a very capable 4x4 from the factory without modifications. But boy when you modify you have a MONSTER. With the coil spring suspension it makes for a smooth ride on the road and offroad.
Here is a picture of my jeep with 31" tires and no lift.(It now has 4" lift and 33" tires.)

And after lift.

I just enjoy being able to take the top off and "GOING TOPLESS"
I do recommend getting involved in a club. Our jeep club is www.smjc.net Check it out.
Oh!!! and look to be part of the JEEP WAVE :wave2: It seems to go along with the jeep. Everybody in jeeps wave at other jeeps for some reason. :wave2: Enjoy. Get the 6 cylinder it has more power.
I hope to get a RUBICON soon. This is my dream jeep.
See you on the trail! Jeep Man Dan

We are City fok here and right now have 2 jeeps ( 93 Chero and a 99 grand)

In my opinion they are one of the best things to buy we have had very little in repair cost. Our City is a mess and the car people are always complaining about tires and front-end alignments.

Go ahead and get it Trick-it-out make it yours.

We are looking into either a H3 ,Jeep commander ( 7 pass) or the new Compass or whatever they new small one is thats coming out next year.

Between us DH and I have had 8 Jeeps (including a Wrangler and CJ7). We love them. :goodvibes I say if you want one, then go for it! You might want to rent one for a few days first to try it out, especially if you plan to have anyone ride in the backseat on a regular basis (which is very small and uncomfortable).

I currently have a Liberty Limited and I think it is a nice compromise between a Wrangler and a Grand Cherokee. It drives like a Jeep yet has more sustenance and options. No, they're not really great for commuting gas-wise, but they sure will get you wherever you're going! :thumbsup2 Have fun!

Jeeps are great! Just remember the "official" Jeep mantra....
Just
Empty
Every
Pocket

Just kidding. I'm sure the newer Jeeps are much better than the older ones, although that is what my DH swears by. We are strictly a Jeep family (except my foray into a Corrolla for the MPG) and we love them.

My DH has an '84 Scrambler (harder to find) and it's awesome! We also currently have my '97 Cherokee with a 2" lift. His has too many modifications to list! I can't even begin to list all the other Jeeps we've had, it would take up 2 pages!

If you're interested in having a good time with your new vehicle, check out Camp Jeep or one of the Jeep Jamborees. The links are on the official Jeep website. Anyquestions, feel free to PM me or reply here. We used to cohost a Jamboree (closed now) and they are great fun!

My carpooler has a Jeep Wrangler so I ride in one all the time. It's a bit rough for commuting and I don't think the gas mileage is so hot, but it is a fun vehicle.

I had two jeep cherokees. I loved them both. The last one was a lease though so had to go back. I ended up having a moment and got a truck, but I'll always be a jeep girl. I have a pic of the wrangler I'm getting next time. It's kind of my incentive.
