DD is now 16 & wants a Jeep LIberty. She has always wanted a small SUV, but has changed her mind over the last few months as to what kind. She thought about a Rav4, CRV, or Escape. Does anyone have a Jeep Liberty & do you like it?

DBF has an '06 Liberty and it has been NOTHING but problems. Granted, it might be the repair shop he uses (or rather, used to use), but it still seems like he has to take it in for one repair or another every month. He hates it and can't wait to get rid of it.

We have one and haven't had any problems (since 2002). It doesn't get good gas mileage though.

I have a 2003 Jeep Liberty and have had no major problems with it. I love it! The gas milage is around 19-20.

Both my sister and my friend have them. They are not great on gas mileage but my friend had been in two accidents in them (major ones) and the only harm she's had was a minor foot injury. And, the car wasn't considered a "totalled" car and still drives it after the repairs were done.

I'm sorry to say it isn't the car, but my friend just isn't a very good driver!

I love my Jeep Liberty. I have an '03 and have about 144,000 miles on it. I will probably need to replace it soon and I think I'm going to get another Jeep.

I have a 2003 Jeep Liberty with 181,000 miles and no major problems. I am planning on still having it in 2 years when it will then go to my ds who will turn 16. Then something new for me!

Absolutely love, love, love mine! It's an'06 and is a Renegade which gives it the more rugged look. We bought it with passing it down to DD13 in mind and I may not give it up for her! (I will, but they will have to pry the keys out of my hands!) It is a very safe car and why we want it to be her first. The gas mileage is the only problem I can see. It gets about 16/18. I tend to gun it though, so I could probably get better.

DD usually drives slow. If she follows me somewhere, I have to keep slowing down because I tend to drive fast. My Mustang gets 18-19 MPG & I never drive it slow. It has the bigger motor too. I was hoping the Jeep would get at least 20 MPG. My niece has a VW Bug & it only gets 19-20 MPG

We used to use Jeep Cherokees at work...ran them 250,000 miles no problem, not sure if the Liberty is as good.
RAV4 and CRV will cost you more to buy and insure, but are very reliable (although I'm not sure you will save enough in repairs to offset the higher purchase cost and insurance)
We have Escapes at work, we bought 4 Hybrid versions, so far so good at 50-60,000 miles....but corporate has decided not to buy any more hybrids...they just cost to much more. We just got 2 Escape 4 cylinder non-hybrids...too soon to tell how they will do, but the one I drove sure was nice.

I'm looking for a car, and the Jeep has been really on my mind. It looks like a fun, versatile car.

But, those cute convertibles always seem to wheel me in...

bought mine used last year 2005 with 23000 miles on it, and I love it. I downsized from a minivan, miss the room of that, but the gas mileage is very good. Pain in the bum to change the tire though.

I traded an Expedition for a convertable. They are fun! I miss the room though. That's the reason that I am considering a small SUV for DD.:goodvibes

I think the Jeep Patriot is supposed to get better gas mileage, have you looked into those?

Had one as a company vehicle at work. Hated, hated, hated it. Lousy gas mileage, rough ride and extremely confining and uncomfortable passenger areas including driver space. My hip always hurt when I was done using in all day and I couldn't wait for it to wear out.

Fortunately, I didn't have to wait. They decided to get an Escape for me. What a difference. Comfortable to drive, relatively good mileage and no more hip pain, plenty of room. I have never been a Ford man, but this one has got me thinking.

I had a Jeep Cherokee as a work car before & I hated it. It rode almost as good as my dad's John Deere. I have had several people tell me that the Liberty is better.
