My daughter wants to do the jedi training during our trip in November. I was just looking around and making a plan for what I want to sign up for ahead of time and noticed that we can't sign up for it, it says first come first serve. Has anyone signed their kids up for it? Do we pretty much have to run there when the park opens to get her on the list? Thank you

That used to be the case- the need to race right over. It doesn’t seem to be the case any longer.

We were there last August and signed up DS without rushing or racing. We arrived for park opening, walked over, and there were plenty of time slots available. Later in the afternoon there were signs up that showed there were still some times available.

If you really need the first time slot, or a specific time slot, I’d get there around park opening but in any case no need to run.

Good heavens, yes. Thousands have.
You head over there when the park opens to have the best times to pick from. They used to run out within 2 hours but now slots last pretty much all day. We were there last Tuesday and the sign up sign was out at 2:00. Obviously though, the later in the day you go, the fewer options for times you'll have.
One word to know, in case you don't, they cancel it for even the slightest drop of rain. So keep that in mind on the day you go. Summers that means you probably don't want an early afternoon slot.
And night is really neat, if you can do one then. They use light up light sabers.

There might be a big, actually MASSIVE resurgence in SW hype at that time. Just sayin'. If there are people that want a specific time, they WILL want to sign up early to get that time, and not have to worry about it. Early bird generally gets their choice of worm at Wallyworld. If you don't care what time slot, by all means, go with the flow. If the new SW land is actually open in Nov, it might be cray cray. Actually, if I were a gambling man, I'd put my money on it being an absolute madhouse. I'd assume it'l also be moved into the new SW land, too?

I just wouldn't count on current state being the norm in November at ALL.

I'm so happy you told me about that!! She would LOVE the light up light sabers!!

We had no idea that it might be open when we go there. We found out the day after we booked the trip ...womp womp! Oh well!

Just get there a little early and go in as soon as the park opens. Signed up one this past June and while there were a lot of people waiting to do it, it went very smoothly. I did see one mentally challenged father grab one kid under each arm and run all the way to the sign up point. He ignored CM's telling him to slow down and almost knocked one down. For all of his running he was only about 20 people in front of us and we walked.

Does everyone in your group need to be there when you sign up? Could my Dad sign up my son while we were at something else in the park?

Just the kid(s) who are participating and an adult to sign them up. Pay attention to when you need to be back before the show, it's really 30+ minutes before the show you are signed up for so be prepared for that. Also warn any shy kids they will ask if they want to participate and if they are willing to follow instructions of each child(adults cannot answer for them).

My youngest (7) signed up for it the last two Decembers. Last month (maybe with with Toy Story land??) was not a lot in line. Year before the line went up through the trees and we still got a spot. No need to run - just hang that left when everyone else is going straight. DS has informed me he is now a Jedi master and no longer needs the training. :rotfl2:

If you have PhotoPass they take a ton of pictures for you during it. One of the (if not the) best DW pictures I have ever seen of him was actually taken by them during that.

Would this be something for an 11yo with Autism and limited conversational speech?

If you Alert the Operations CMs to the lack of verbal output, the CM will then ask you to make sure there is some desire on the part of the child to want to train. They’ll in turn Alert the Padawans who assist with the directions and training.

The Padawans will Alert the Jedi Master, and Vader or Kylo before the actual interaction takes place.

You should have the 11yo watch a YouTube video to see if she/he is even interested in the training. Many kids with no interest get signed up and have a horribly boring time.
