We are headed to Disney in July and one of the items at the top of the list for my Niece and Nephew is the Jedi Training. As my Niece is 12 this will be her last year to be able to do it so am trying to set us up for the best chance for success. We plan to sign up during EMH (unfortunately, we can not do the breakfast in the park to get an earlier access to the sign-up time). I have read a lot of tips etc but am not sure what is still true and some information seems to contradict itself so I am hoping that someone that has recent experience may be able to confirm some information.
  • Some reports indicate that there is a special turnstile to the left or that once you get in there is a special area you can go to prior to the other individuals headed to the rides being "released" into the park. Is this still available particularly on EMH day and if it is how is it identified?
  • For those that have signed up on EMH days what time did you arrive prior to the start of EMH to get in line? We are staying at POP and trying to determine when we will need to leave etc.
  • How well marked is the area that they have to sign up once you find the Jones Adventure Outpost?
  • Once the kids have signed up I heard that when they arrive they form different lines which determines who they will fight. Is this still true and which color corresponds to which battle? (My Nephew will battle anyone but really wants to battle Darth Vader if he can)
  • There will be extra adults to grab seats for viewing. Is there a recommendation of where to sit to be able to see all the action regardless of where they are battling?
  • Any other tips based on recent experience?

Thank-you for your help.

So we've successfully done this once, and once got rained out. Not sure if this will help? But,

1. We were at the regular turnsiles, nothing special. We didn't have an ADR, so were with the common folk! :D
2. It was not an EMH for us, but I foolishly got it wrong, so we spend 45 min at the turnsiles, BUT were some of the first in the park.
3. When we went, it was just Vader, so I'm not sure, I tihnk its changed, so the kids aren't bored waiting for their 30 seconds of action, and that's not a bad idea!
4. There aren't seats, it's all standing. And when my oldest did it, it was just the kids came out, and when directed each stood on a painted circle like thing. Where they wanted. But, the views were pretty good all over. I wouldn't stand too close, the photopass photographer blocked us alot, til we moved back more.
5. My only tip, is don't be late if you do get chosen. There were tons of alternates checking in, ready to fill in for anyone who didn't show up. And make sure they use the bathroom first!! It honestly is just a LOT of waiting around (it felt like for me) and right before they go up, they will have to go. That's just how it works, lol.

I believe the line on the right is for Darth Vader. It was what we had written in our notes and it worked out correctly for my nephew last week.

This was my experience a couple of months ago (Nov 2016)....not sure if anything has changed since then.

-The turnstile on the left was for early ADR people. Once those people had entered the park, it turned into a regular line. Nothing special.
-You won't miss the sign up area. Just follow the sea of people. They also have CMs directing traffic.
-I don't recall there being different colors, but the line closer to the wall fought seventh sister and the line closer to the lake fought Vader.
-There are no seats. The crowd stands and watches the battle. I would suggest one adult wait with the kids and walk over with them, and another adult go to the viewing area to secure a spot.
-The photographers there are awesome. They take a TON of pictures. If you have MM there is no need to take your own pictures.
