Hi. I have read numerous old threads about the Jedi Training, and wanted to make sure I'm understanding correctly.

At rope drop DH will go directly to TSM to get fast passes for the family. DD and DS will go with me to (hopefully) sign up for Jedi Training near the Dangerous Sounds stage. CM will come out prior to the first show (which begins at 9:55?) and give the kids (they must be present) tickets (or cards or numbers or something) for their spot. After that we can wonder around until it is time for us to be back for the Jedi Training.

How long before the show begins do they pass out the tickets? This is top on DS's list and DD said she wants to do it too. We don't mind waiting. I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

Any comments, thoughts or suggestions? :goodvibes

We did Jedi earlier this month. Go to the sign-up - you need to have both kids with you the whole time (ages 4-12). Assuming that it's not filled up for the day, both kids will be asked a few questions (how old are you, are you afraid of Darth Vader, can you follow directions) and they will receive a piece of paper with their name on it and the time of their show. You have to go back to the sign-up area 30 minutes prior to the show and present that piece of paper to the CM. Once everyone is accounted for (15 kids per show), they do a little trivia game on Star Wars and then take the kids directly to the stage area.

Once there, they don't get too much direction until the show - the training portion itself is part of the show. Once they go on to the stage, they are directed to stand on 1 of 15 circles (you might want to encourage them to try and be closer to the front of the stage for picture purposes). The Jedi Master hands out the lightsabers and walks the kids through the routine several times. Vader shows up, they each do the routine against Vader while the Jedi Master makes tongue-in-cheek jokes about the kids, and then they unify to fend off Vader for a final time. They get a diploma and that's it - the show time is about 20 minutes or so. There is a photographer who will hand out photopass cards prior to the show (he took about 200 pics during our show, so we had a lot of weeding out to do on our CD).

As far as strategy, make sure DH has everyone's park tickets prior to heading over to TSM - you won't need them to sign-up for Jedi Training. If you're not staying on-property and its an EMH morning, you might find it difficult to get a spot in any of the Jedi shows.

I'm so glad I saw this! I had no idea you had to sign the kids up ahead of time - DUH! My DD has recently become obsessed with Star Wars, so this is a must do for us!

Thank you so much! You answered all my questions...including the ones I didn't know I had! ;)

the rope drop stuff has changed a little at DHS lately- so this may be different BUT shortly BEFORE RD guests can enter , the jedi sign ups are in front of hollywood and vine restaurant, CM's have sign pointing to way to the line.. line up and they start taking names, and let you know what show you will be in-- this (for us anyway) was all before RD, we signed up got the 2nd show, Dh ran to get TSMM fastpasses at RD. After RD they move the sign ups to Sounds Dangerous. Show up to SD 30 min before your show and the CMs take it from there.

Hi there! I've been to the Studios before, but have never done the Jedi Training. My daughter is super excited about it and can't wait. We're going to be at Hollywood and Vine on Monday, March 19th for the Character Breakfast at 8am. I was hoping, since we're getting in an hour before the park is scheduled to open, that that would put us in a good position to sign up for JT.

Is it really true that the sign up is right in front of the restaurant, and not at the front of the park? Because that would be awesome - I assume I could just walk out of breakfast, then, and go get her signed up? Is there anything else I need to know, being we haven't done this before?

:yay: 21 days until our trip to WDW!!!

Just be aware that starting 3/7 they will no longer let you use your fastpasses after the window listed. So if the JTA conflicts with the time you get on the FP, that could be an issue.

We were there in August at rope drop to sign up and I just want to make certain I understand what you are saying. We stood with the CM with lightsabers in front of Prime Time not back by Hollywood & Vine. We then proceeded to Sounds Dangerous inside que to sign up. Did they move it back more? The actual sign up is there now? :confused3 We ended up in the second show, but got rained out for twenty seconds and it was cancelled. So definitely need to make it this trip :cool1:

Things are so complicated cow. We didn't need to sign up 5 years ago. We just turned up for the show and they pick the kids from the audience! DS15 was 10 then and was picked!

Back in Nov, before rope drop, it was in front of H&V for us, but once rope drop happened, sign ups were redirected to Sounds Dangerous....now, with no rope drop, it appears it's just there.

A few weeks ago (Feb 5)....you had to go directly to sounds dangerous to sign the kids up. I think with the new, non-rope drop policy, they send people now directly to Sounds Dangerous.

Has anyone experienced anything different since the new rope drop policies have been instituted??

Well we were there at the end of Sept/beginning of Oct.- the restaurants are right next to each other- in our experience, we went in the turnstiles about 20 til 9, and they had CM's with signs pointing to the JT sign up area which was in front of the restaurants, we waited in line, when we got to the podium they were filling the 2nd show, we signed up then DH took our tickets and waited on the mainstreet for RD to get TSMM tickets. After RD the sign ups were in Sounds Dangerous, when we were waiting for our show in the lobby area (around 930ish) they were still signing up kids but for the last shows of the day...
